Report: AEW catching serious criticism for antisemitic storyline amid war in Israel

According to a recent report from TMZ Sports, AEW is catching serious criticism from fans following an antisemitic storyline that involved World Champion MJF and Bullet Club Gold’s Juice Robinson on this past Tuesday night’s Title Tuesday episode of Dynamite.

The report also notes fans were irate with AEW’s creative decision to run with the storyline considering what is currently taking place in Israel.

The controversial segment aired toward the episode, when MJF, who is Jewish, began the promo exchange with Robinson. During the verbal exchange, Robinson and the rest of Bullet Club Gold were taunting him and attempting to bait him into a future match with Jay White. This is when, in segment Robinson pulled out a roll of quarters.

Written on the pack of quarters was MJF’s last name – “Friedman.” Robinson then showed it directly to the camera.

The promo was said to be widely tagged on social media as anti-Jewish. MJF has said repeatedly in the past when he was a teenager, bullies would pelt him with quarters and then tell him, “Pick it up, Jew boy. Pick it up.”

MJF snapped over the quarters as part of the promo, yelling back at Robinson, “You come near me with those quarters, I’ll end your life, you piece of s—!”

An AEW fan named Travis Akers from Jacksonville, FL, who has said he said he loves the promotion and has attended many AEW shows took to social media to say it was tasteless and a horrible decision by Tony Khan to pursue an angle woven with anti-Semitism. He also went on to say that he is longer a fan of AEW.

Akers then in a different post on social media showed how Khan responded to his critique of using an antisemitic storyline.

MJF later addressed the promo on social media, while also promoting his speaking engagement at Stand Up To Jewish Hate, which took place this past Thursday.
