Tony Khan took to social media to promote a match between CMLL’s Mistico and New Japan’s Rocky Romero for AEW Rampage on 10/20.
The upcoming bout is being promoted as involving “Mexico’s Pound-For-Pound Crown,” a nod to boxing that helps emphasize the pride involved in this match.
A number of luchadors have portrayed Mistico over the years, but it has been noted that this is indeed the same man who was Sin Cara in WWE.
This post also proves less controversial than other remarks made by Khan on social media, most recently making claims that “neither John Cena nor Undertaker had ever been on a WWE show with under 1 million total viewers + under 400k in the demo,” a claim that has been partly debunked.
The comment seemed to surprise some in AEW, as noted in a recent report by Fightful Select that revealed that the AEW President does not clear tweets with the PR team.
