A top AEW star could be on her way out of the company.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported very late on Wednesday night on social media that former AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill is believed to be finishing up with the company.
It is being said by Sapp and the report from Fightful Select, sources within both AEW and WWE told Fightful that they believe Cargill is on her way to WWE. It was also noted that Cargill likely finished up with AEW at Wednesday’s Rampage tapings. AEW sources also noted to Fightful Select that as things stand overnight, Cargill is done with AEW and the September 13 Rampage taping at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati looked to be her final appearance for AEW.
After being gone from AEW since Double or Nothing this past May, Cargill returned to AEW television during last Saturday’s Collision, which set up a TBS Title match between Cargill and Kris Statlander. The match was taped on Wednesday night and will air on this Friday’s episode of Rampage on TNT.
The report from Fightful Select further stated that Cargill was brought back to AEW Collision so that she could wrap up with the company and put over Statlander clean.
Cargill lost the title match clean to Statlander at the Rampage taping. It was said by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, fans who attended the taping said that they felt like Cargill gave her farewell to AEW. She “waved to the crowd like she was leaving” and then she and Statlander hugged and showed respect.
