AEW took to social media to celebrate an accomplishment for Eddie Kingston, who won the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship from KENTA on the second night of the NJPW STRONG events taking place in Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
The match, reported to be a close, brutal back and forth affair between both men, concluded with Kingston getting the pinfall after a trio of spinning back fists.
The victory gives Kingston his first championship in New Japan, and marks a milestone in his already storied career as he prepares for the G1 tournament starting 7/15.
