Tony and Shahid Khan reportedly among groups that showed interest in buying Bellator MMA

Recent reports have indicated an interest to some degree from Tony Khan and his father Shahid, who currently owns AEW, the Jacksonville Jaguars franchise in the NFL, and the Fulham soccer club, in adding mixed martial arts to the mix.

On a recent edition of MMA Hour, Ariel Helwani stated that the Khans were one of several groups that have shown interest in purchasing Bellator MMA from Paramount Global, the group that purchased majority ownership in December 2011 when they were called Viacom.

Helwani said he was not clear to what degree the Khans were (or still are) interested, however.

While nothing has been announced formally as of time of writing, it has bee known in the industry that Bellator MMA is for sale, with the Professional Fighters League as a very notable group of interest.

According to Helwani, among other groups showing interest in the sale is Liberty Media, an investment group that was also interested in buying WWE.
