According to a report from Fightful Select, multiple AEW sources have recently claimed to have overheard Tony Khan say that Kenny Omega has substantial injury time that “could be” added to his current contract to further extend the deal, if AEW chooses to do so. Fightful said they have confirmed the option for the extension is in Omega’s current contract, which is apparently standard in all AEW deals.
Fightful Select also notes one AEw source said that Omega has good representation and that the automatic extension might not necessarily be what is said to be a slam dunk. It is also believed, as of this writing that the injury time has not been added to Omega’s deal as of now.
The report concluded by saying that there is said to be a lot of discussion within WWE as of late, with many in WWE thinking they may have a chance to sign Omega. The word is that Omega had a positive relationship with WWE, especially Triple H, at the time when Omega was looking at potentially signing with the company.
Omega is an Executive Vice President within AEW. He currently holds the AEW World Trios Championships with fellow EVP’s the Young Bucks. Omega is also is the current holder of IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. Omega has it written into his current deal with AEW that he has the freedom to appear for NJPW as long as it doesn’t conflict with his AEW roles, or at the very least an agreement between the two sides is made.
