CM Punk reflects on his first year back in pro wrestling

CM took to Instagram to reflect on his his first year back in professional wrestling.

Punk made his return to professional wrestling on the August 20, 2021, making his AEW debut on a special live episode of AEW Rampage. The episode, billed as the first dance, took place at the United Center in Punk’s hometown of Chicago.

He made his surprise return near the end of the August 10 Quake By The Lake episode of Dynamite at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN. Punk came down to make the save as Jon Moxley and the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club were getting a beating by Jericho Appreciation Society.

Punk is the current AEW World Champion. He defeated “Hangman” Adam Page at Double or Nothing this past May. On June 3 episode of AEW Rampage, he revealed he had a broken foot that would require surgery. Tony Khan then announced that there would be an interim AEW World Champion, and then upon Punk’s return, the titles would be unified. Jon Moxley won the interim title at Forbidden Door back in June by defeating Hiroshi Tanahashi.

The unification match will take place on this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, live on TBS, from the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, OH. The match was originally set to happen at the All Out PPV on Sunday, September 4 at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
