WWE introduced Drake Maverick (former Impact Wrestling star Rockstar Spud) as the new General Manager of 205 Live on Tuesday night on the WWE Network.
Maverick, who was officially introduced by Smackdown General Manager Daniel Bryan, announced a 16-man tournament to crown a new WWE Cruiserweight Champion. He also announced that this 16-man tournament will culminate at WrestleMania 34 this April.
It should be noted that the commentary team did refer to Maverick under his former ring name of Rockstar Spud during his days with TNA/Impact Wrestling. Spud was part of the original TNA British Boot Camp reality series and would later go on to be featured on TNA television for many years. He parted ways with Impact earlier this year.
