“WWE: Then. Now. Forever.”
The show opens inside the office of NXT General Manager William Regal, who addresses the injury of Drew McIntyre and the tournament to crown a new #1 contender to the NXT Championship at Takeover: Philadelphia. We will have four singles matches, and the winners of those will face off in a Fatal 4-Way to determine the #1 contender.
Tonight will hold two of those matches: Killian Dain will face Trent Seven, and Kassius Ohno was set to face Velveteen Dream…but due to injuries suffered at Takeover: War Games, there will be a new opponent set to take on Ohno. Regal wishes all of them the best of luck, and the NXT intro takes us to a packed crowd at Full Sail as commentary hypes the matches set for tonight, including Ruby Riott taking on Sonya Deville in a No Holds Barred Match! Back at ringside, the new NXT Champion Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega make their way to the ring, taunting the fans along the way.
Andrade’s NXT Championship Celebration
Vega gets a mic from ringside, declaring us all as witness to the beginning of a historic championship reign. Ladies and gentlemen, respect the man…embrace the legend…rise for your NXT Champion, El Idolo, Andrade “Cien” Almas! A loud “SI” chant starts as Almas thanks Vega and says he told us he’d be NXT Champion. “I am the champion!” He beat…sorry, he hurt…Drew McIntyre. As for the next #1 contender, he beat Drew, and whoever is next will face the same fate. We are NXT…but I am the new NXT Champion! He drops the mic, yelling at the crowd as his music hits while he poses with the title. Commentary hypes one of the qualifying matches as Kassius Ohno faces a mystery opponent later tonight!
Enjoyed the promo from Almas and Vega to kick off the show this week. Good speech from the champ, love his assurance that he'll be champ for a long time. More Almas showboating, please and thank you. #WWENXT

Back from break, we catch up with Lars Sullivan in an interview from earlier tonight as he addresses his upcoming opponent, Roderick Strong. He says Strong is a hell of a competitor and a handsome guy…but that’s not me. He likes to talk about his family, I don’t have a family. All Lars Sullivan cares about is getting his hands on Roderick Strong in two weeks, so that the NXT Championship is mine in Philadelphia. Addressing the title itself, he says it means that Lars Sullivan gets to show the world that he’s the kind of superstar that he always knew he was. Nothing will stop me…at Takeover: Philadelphia, the NXT Championship is mine! With that, Lars leaves as we go back to ringside, where Trent Seven makes his way to the ring for the first of the qualifying matches of the night! Killian Dain makes his way out next, and the bell rings to get this match underway!
No. 1 Contender Qualifying Match
Trent Seven vs. Killian Dain
Seven charges at Dain, but to no effect. Seven tries again, only to get knocked out cold by Dain who hits a dropkick that sends Seven flying into the corner! Dain stomps away at Seven before picking him up, and Seven tries to fight back only to get slammed down hard by Dain who gets a nearfall. Dain goes to work on the head of Seven, who struggles to get back to his feet. Seven with some hard chops, but Dain is barely fazed as Seven manages to hit a DDT. Dain getting back to his feet, hitting a boot to the face only to take a backfist by Seven. Seven runs the ropes…right into a huge Divide crossbody by Dain for a nearfall! Seven picks Dain up, but Dain with a forward slam and a senton before he hits a Vader Bomb for the win!
Winner via pinfall: Killian Dain
Good (albeit short) match between Dain and Seven, good way to keep some momentum on Dain here. #WWENXT

Dain celebrates as we get some replays from the match. Commentary hypes Dain getting into the Fatal 4-Way match, as well as Kassius Ohno facing a mystery opponent later tonight. Backstage, Sonya Deville is getting ready for her match as we go to break.

Back from break, Undisputed ERA says they told the world they were gonna take over the world and that’s what they did. They not only survived War Games, but they won. Speaking of winning, next week Adam Cole faces Aleister Black. Aleister has run through nearly everyone on the NXT roster, but the problem is none of them have been named Adam Cole. You are not on my level, and next week I prove that. Kyle talks about he and Bobby facing SAnitY in two weeks for the tag titles. Bobby says that SAnitY talks about the chaos, but in two weeks he and Kyle will bring more than chaos. At Takeover: Brooklyn, Undisputed ERA shocked the system…at War Games, they took the system over…and now, Undisputed ERA rule the system.
Nice promo here from Undisputed ERA. Assuming next week's show is on tap for the USA Network broadcast, Adam Cole vs Aleister Black is gonna be a fun little treat for a potentially bigger audience. #WWENXT

Great match between Ruby and Sonya to finish their feud in NXT! Good use of the finish here, establishing Ruby's "never say die" type attitude. Hoping all the best for both of them on the main roster! #WWENXT

Sonya celebrates in the ring as we get a replay of the finish. We go to the back, where Ember Moon talks about winning the NXT Women’s Championship at Takeover. She talks about it being a dream and accomplishing her destiny, and hopefully being the best Women’s Champion in NXT history! The Iconic Duo interrupt, pointing out that Ember pinned Cross, meaning Peyton has the right to beat Ember up. Ember wants to know who she’s facing next week, and the Iconic Duo can’t decide…leading Ember to tell them that she’ll face whichever one of them next week. With that, the Iconic Duo agree that Royce gets a shot at Ember next week, but not to beat Ember up too bad so Kay can deal with her later. From there, commentary hype that match as well as a United Kingdom Championship match in two weeks as Pete Dunne defends against Tyler Bate!
– VIDEO PACKAGE: United Kingdom Championship Tournament Finals –
Backstage, we see Regal talking to Ohno about his match, which is coming up next!
Good little segment to hype upcoming opponents for Ember Moon. Still not thrilled with her being champion, but at least there are some good matches up ahead! #WWENXT

– AD: Clash of Champions –
– VIDEO PACKAGE: Coming Soon…Shayna? Someone else? (Probably Shayna) –
Quick take: I'm like 99% sure that video package is for Shayna. Not enough evidence of anyone else, and WWE (even NXT) aren't always gonna be ultra-cryptic in their hype packages. Better safe than sorry having spades present for the "Queen of Spades" #WWENXT

— Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) December 7, 2017
Gargano celebrates as commentary hypes his entry into the Fatal 4-Way match, as well as replays from the match. Ohno looks dejected as he heads up the ramp, but steps onto the apron and they bump forearms out of respect. Ohno heads back up the ramp, allowing Gargano to celebrate his win some more as the show comes to a close.
Overall, a good episode of #WWENXT to continue building toward Takeover: Philly! Between the #1 Contender Qualifiers and the No Holds Barred match, this one had plenty of action and built up some fun stories for the next couple weeks!
