I had previously reported that CM Punk was scheduled to throw out the first pitch and sing the 7th inning stretch at the Cubs game on May 15. However, the Chicago Cubs released the official list of 7th inning singers today and CM Punk was not listed. Jim Belushi was listed instead for May 15. WWE is still listing Punk as throwing out the first pitch in their Appearances section.
This should definitely be looked at as a slap in the face to wrestling and the WWE. While there are usually a few people to throw out “first pitches” for a given game, I would have thought that Punk would have been the marquee name for that day. This also eliminates any promotion for Judgment Day that would have taken place on the WGN Radio and Television broadcast within Punk’s interviews.
