Show opens with quick highlights from last year’s NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, then we see many of the participants on tonight’s show talk about where they were last year and being ready for tonight.
No Way Jose vs. Austin Aries
Big reaction for Jose in Brooklyn. Jose has a conga line for his entrance as Brooklyn has become his own personal Fiesta. Equally as big reaction for Aries upon his entrance. Aries draws Jose’s ire early by disrespecting him at every turn. Jose brings the disrespect right back to Aries, then nails him with the Fastball Punch and a leaping shot off the apron. Aries blocks a move off the turnbuckles and hot-shots Jose to take control. Aries gets a couple nearfalls off a 2nd Rope Corkscrew Elbow and a Leaping Elbow Drop. Jose mounts a comeback with some double chops, but Aries uses the ropes to fight back with the kneebreaker/back suplex combo right into the Last Chancery, but Jose reaches the ropes. Jose counters a Rolling Elbow with a TKO for a close nearfall. Aries gets out of the Cobra Clutch Slam and wipes out Jose outside with the Heat Seeking Missile! Aries hits the neckbreaker across the ropes, then the IED corner dropkick. Jose counters the Brainbuster with a Falcon Arrow like Brainbuster for another close nearfall. Aries hits the Rolling Elbow, but Jose responds with a LARIAT-OOOOO!!! Aries again blocks the Cobra Clutch Slam and hits a Crucifix Driver, followed by another IED Dropkick for a close nearfall. Jose stops Aries on the turnbuckles, but Aries hits a Sunset Bomb right back into the Last Chancery and Jose has to tap.
Winner: Austin Aries by submission (Last Chancery)
Aries puts the Last Chancery back on Jose after until Hideo Itami’s music hits and he heads to the ring, to Aries’ sheer anger and disgust. Aries goes after Itami, but Itami sends him packing with the KENTA Series and the Go to Sleep. Crowd goes nuts for the GTS by Itami as he stands tall over Aries.
We see Ric Flair sitting at ringside. We then see Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura preparing backstage for their match tonight, with CWC competitor Kota Ibushi and Funaki with Nakamura in his lockerroom.
Ember Moon (debut) vs. Billie Kay
Ember Moon is the former Athena of SHIMMER fame, coming out to a unique entrance. Commentary talks about her training by legendary manager Skandor Akbar and WWE HOF’er Booker T. Moon hits a kip-up rana early, then shows off her agility and her blood-shot red eyes. Kay comes back with a Discus Punch for a nearfall, then takes control. Moon with a springboard crossbody for a nearfall, but then Kay answers with Soul Food for a close nearfall. Moon blocks a powerbomb, then Kay with a Widow’s Peak style submission into a Gory Bomb for another close nearfall. Moon mounts a comeback with a spin kick, a neckbreaker and a butterfly suplex. Moon hits a Cartwheel Clothesline, then heads up top and hits the Corkscrew Stunner, once known as the O-Face, for the win.

We see Bobby Roode arriving earlier today and cutting a promo ripping on Brooklyn.
We see a video package showcasing Bobby Roode coming to NXT and wanting to make it GLORIOUS.
Bobby Roode vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas
Roode comes out on top of a cherry picker bringing him down as the Brooklyn crowd sings along with his GLORIOUS theme. Big reaction for Roode in Brooklyn, crowd chanting “This is GLORIOUS”. Not so favorable for young Almas. Roode constantly showboats in the early going, much to the crowd’s delight. Almas does a pose in the ropes to mess with Roode, then scores with some strikes and a 2nd Rope Rana. Slingshot Baseball Slide, then Almas messes again with Roode after an evasion. Roode crotches Almas on the ropes and then takes control. Roode hits a delayed suplex, but Almas springboard dropkicks Roode off the ropes, then wipes him out with an Inside-Out Corkscrew Plancha! Almas gets a close nearfall off a Top Rope Crossbody. Roode then stops the Running Corner Meteora with a Lariat for a close nearfall. Almas blocks a Super German, then lands on his feet off a second attempt and gets another close nearfall off a Straitjacket German. Roode gets the knees up off a Lionsault, but Almas counters a Perfect-Plex with a cradle for another close nearfall. Almas with a Koppo Kick, then hits the Running Corner Meteora, but Roode blocks the Hammerlock DDT and hits the Double R Spinebuster. Roode then hits the GLORIOUS BOMB (Pumphandle Drop) for the win.

We then see a weird vignette talking about “SANITY”.
We see Triple H unveiling the Cruiserweight Classic trophy earlier today that will be given to the winner on September 14, made by Orange County Choppers. The Cruiserweight Classic competitors are shown at ringside.
Backstage, Gargano and Ciampa talk about their match tonight, wearing new shirts showcasing that their new team name is DIY, because they have done things their own way.

NXT Tag Team Titles: The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) (c’s) vs. DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa)
Nice reaction for DIY in Brooklyn. Pre-match intros for this one. Long feeling-out process early between both teams. Challengers uncork some tandem offense for a nearfall. “Johnny Wrestling” chants by the Brooklyn crowd for Gargano. Gargano runs offense on Wilder, but Dawson gets involved to allow the champs to take control. Both teams square off in the center, then begin brawling. Dawson gets Wilder outside to avoid Gargano and Ciampa, but the challengers wipe them out with stereo topes! Champions then take over on Ciampa with a hot-shot/back suplex combo for a nearfall. Revival works over Ciampa for awhile, including pulling Gargano off the apron as Ciampa was going for a tag. Revival hits an Assisted Gourdbuster for a close nearfall. Revival keeps preventing Ciampa from making a tag, continuing to run control, including Wilder feigning an injury to block the ref from seeing Gargano get tagged in. Revival hit the old Demolition Decapitation finisher on Ciampa, but Gargano saves the match for his team. Ciampa avoids Revival on charges and FINALLY gets Gargano in to mount the comeback for DIY. Gotcha! Kick and a Leaping Neckbreaker to Dawson gets a close nearfall. Apron Superkick to Wilder, Slingshot Spear to Dawson gets Gargano another close nearfall. Revival get a blind tag and Dawson uncorks an Arn Anderson like DDT on Gargano for a real close nearfall. Ciampa comes in and locks in the Flipping Armbar on Dawson, but Wilder saves the titles. Gargano stops a Double Suplex with a Spear on Wilder, Ciampa cradles Dawson for another close nearfall. “NXT” and “This is Awesome” chants by the Brooklyn crowd. Ciampa and Dawson have a staredown and trade-off of strikes until Ciampa uncorks a big slap and a Knockout Knee, then Gargano stops Shatter Machine with a Superkick on Wilder, Ciampa rolls up Dawson for another close nearfall. Gargano and Ciampa hit Sharks in the Water (Running Knockout Knee/Basement Superkick Combo) on Wilder, but Wilder gets the foot on the ropes at 2.99999999! Ref waves off the win as Gargano and Ciampa celebrate, thinking that they won the titles. Dawson sends Ciampa outside and into the ringpost, then Wilder takes out Gargano’s leg with a chopblock. Revival hit a Kneebar/Double Stomp onto Gargano’s knee, that commentary notes is the same way they took out Big Cass several months back, then Dawson locks in the Inverted Figure 4 on Gargano, who has no choice but to tap, retaining the titles for the Revival.

NXT Women’s Title: Asuka (c) vs. Bayley
HUGE reaction for Bayley in Brooklyn as we see her superfan, Izzy, seated at ringside with her parents. For the first time, we get in-ring Wacky Waving Flailing Inflatable Tube Men for Bayley’s entrance. Asuka comes out sporting a long white veil for her entrance. Pre-match intros again for this one, Asuka got a nice reaction as well on her entrance. Feeling-out process in the early going as the Brooklyn crowd gives dueling chants. Both women exchange nearfalls, then Asuka DRILLS Bayley with a Knee Strike as Bayley was leaping off the ropes. Bayley gets back in, but Asuka unloads with a barrage of hip attacks, then locks in an Octopus Stretch in the ropes, all the while, enjoying everything she is dishing out to Bayley. Bayley keeps trying to mount offense, but Asuka constantly cuts her off, including a hanging kick to the back of Bayley’s head, then a Roman Reigns like Drive-By Kick on the apron for a nearfall. Bayley answers with a Fisherman Suplex, a basement uppercut, a sliding lariat and a knee drop for a nearfall. Bayley then avoids another hip attack and hits a 2nd Rope Hot-Shot, then a Double Springboard Crossbody for a nearfall. Asuka avoids a Top Rope Crossbody and uncorks a sliding kick for a nearfall. Bayley slips out of a superplex and the running elbow drop while Asuka was in the Tree of Woe for a nearfall. They trade off on running strikes, but Asuka locks Bayley in a Stretch Muffler. Bayley counters out with a Leg Clutch Cradle for a nearfall. Asuka then applies an Ankle Lock, but Bayley kicks her way out. Asuka uncorks a barrage of chest kicks, but it only serves to fire Bayley up. Bayley demands Asuka hit her in the face, which Asuka obliges, but Bayley with a backslide for a nearfall. Asuka responds with a spinning backfist, but Bayley blocks the Execution Kick and hits a Dominator for a close nearfall. Asuka quickly goes for the Asuka Lock and gets in locked in on Bayley, the same way she won the title from Bayley back in Dallas. Bayley tries to power out of it, then is able to counter out with the Belly-to-Bayley, but Asuka kicks out! Bayley tries for it again, but Asuka takes her down back into the Asuka Lock! Bayley gets to her feet, but Asuka takes her back down, but Bayley counters it with a pin attempt for a nearfall. Execution Kick by Asuka, but Bayley POPS RIGHT UP! Bayley with a Head Kick, but Asuka with a Spin Kick and another Execution Kick to retain the title.
Winner and STILL NXT Women’s Champion: Asuka by pinfall (Execution Kick)
Asuka celebrates after, then helps up Bayley after and the two embrace in a sign of mutual respect. Asuka leaves, giving Bayley the ring, as the Brooklyn crowd gives Bayley a standing ovation, chanting “Thank You Bayley.” Bayley leaves, hugging Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks, as well as Charlotte, then finally her superfan, Izzy, at ringside before heading to the back as this appears like its her NXT swan song.
We see video announcing that NXT will be touring Australia and New Zealand in December.
We see Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura leaving their lockerrooms to head to the ring as the main event is NEXT!

We see RAW GM Mick Foley, his daughter Noelle and Finn Balor seated at ringside.
Main Event for the NXT Title: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
Nakamura has a violinist out there to play his entrance music. INSANE reaction for Nakamura, with the crowd singing his music. Joe, to his credit, gets a damn good reaction for his entrance, with the crowd chanting for him. Both men have to be held back by the ref before the pre-match intros, with both taking a swipe at one another. Crowd continues to sing Nakamura’s theme in the early going of the match. Both go for kicks early, then Joe slaps Nakamura. They do battle on the mat, then exchange chain wrestling. Both avoid strike attempts, then Nakamura dares Joe to bring it and unloads with knee strikes before hitting the Vibration Boot. Joe fires back with strikes outside, then hits the back elbow/enziguri combo in the corner, taking control. Nakamura comes back with an underneath kick on the apron, but Joe avoids the knee drop on the apron and Nakamura clutches his leg. Joe then wipes out Nakamura with the Elbow Suicida! Joe hits the back chop/FK/knee drop combo for a nearfall. Joe continues to keep control, locking Nakamura in a Dragon Sleeper, then switching to a Seated Surfboard. Nakamura tries to fight back, but Joe sweeps out his leg, then hits a powerbomb for a nearfall, before quickly transitioning to his version of the Boston Crab and then into a Crossface. Nakamura counters out with a pin attempt for a nearfall, then fires back with a back heel kick. Another back heel kick by Nakamura, then he begins to mount his comeback, hitting a barrage of kicks and knees, but Joe blocks the Reverse Powerslam and hits a Big Boot, but Nakamura avoids the Back Senton. Nakamura with a Neck Lock, then hits the PRIDE-style knee strikes to the head. Joe answers with ST-Joe, but Nakamura stops the Muscle Buster and hits a 2nd Rope One-Legged Dropkick. They trade strikes until Joe turns Nakamura INSIDE OUT with a Western Lariat! Joe goes for another lariat, but Nakamura counters it with a flying armbar! Joe keeps the hands locked to block the submission, but Nakamura switches to a Triangle. Joe is able to get free and counters out into a Cloverleaf, but Nakamura reaches the ropes. Joe goes for the Koquina Clutch, but Nakamura fights out, however runs right into a big knee strike for a close nearfall. Joe unloads with 12-6 elbows, then locks in the Koquina Clutch, but Nakamura reaches the ropes again. Nakamura again stops the Muscle Buster and hits a release German, folding Joe up like an accordion! Nakamura goes for the Boma-Ye, but Joe counters with a Snap Slam for a close nearfall. Joe peppers Nakamura with jabs, then hits an enziguri and the Muscle Buster, but Nakamura is able to kick out to the shock of Joe! Crowd sings Nakamura’s song again to will him on. Nakamura fights out of another Muscle Buster and hits the Boma-Ye, but now Joe kicks out! 2nd Rope Boma-Ye to the back of Joe’s head, then another Boma-Ye! 1-2-3! NEW CHAMPION!!!
