Triple-H narrates an introduction video that highlights some of the greatest cruiserweights in the history of the WWE including Eddie Guerrero, Rey Misterio Jr., Billy Kidman, Chris Jericho, and others followed by video of the participants in the CWC training and wrestling on the Indies and internationally.
Mauro Ranallo and Daniel Bryan welcome us to Full Sail University as a “Yes” chant breaks out amongst the fans. Mauro mentions that many of the wrestlers in this tournament were influenced by Daniel and others have even been in the ring with him. Daniel puts over Zack Sabre Jr., Kota Ibushi, and Brian Kendrick as being tough opponents he has faced in the past.
Corey Graves hypes up the card for tonight which will kick off with a Mexico vs. Chile battle. Gran Metalik, aka Mascara Dorada of CMLL, and Alejandro Saez, aka XL, of Chile. A video package allows both men to introduce themselves with clips of them working out in the ring airing as well.
CWC First Round
Gran Metalik vs. Alejandro “XL” Saez
Metalik is known as Mascara Dorada in CMLL down in Mexico and is one of the best high flyers in the world. He spent the majority of 2015 wrestling in Japan for New Japan Pro Wrestling. Saez actually had to cut weight right up to weigh ins to make the 205 lb. weight limit. He has spent the majority of his career in Puerto Rico and has wrestled in Mexico as well. They do MMA style refereeing here at the beginning with the referee talking to the guys before the match followed by a handshake. After a lockup Saez gets Metalik in a wristlock but Metalik flips out of it before Saez puts the boots to him. Saez puts Metalik in a side headlock but Metalik shoves him into the ropes. Saez shoulder blocks Metalik and then sidesteps a monkey flip attempt and dropkicks Metalik for the early nearfall. Saez puts the boots to Metalik and then attempts to whip him into the ropes but Metalik reverses it and Saez flips over the top rope and lands on the apron. Saez hits a Springboard Missile Dropkick for another nearfall. Saez chops away at Metalik and then whips him into the ropes but Metalik cartwheels into a big Superkick followed by a beautiful Double Spring Missile Dropkick! Saez rolls to the floor and Metalik flies with the Brillo Dorada (middle rope Springboard Somersault Plancha) over the top onto Saez on the floor! Metalik rolls Saez back in the ring and then Metalik walks the top rope and then hits a Flying Splash for a nearfall of his own! Metalik with a nasty chop and then he hits the ropes. Seaz backdrops Metalik over the top rope and Metalik lands on the apron. Saez hits a nasty Roundhouse Kick knocking Metalik to the floor! Saez hits a Shooting Star Press off the apron onto Metalik who was still lying on the floor! Back in the ring Saez dives off the top with a Spiral Tap, but Metalik moves and then hits a huge corner clothesline followed by a Samoan Driver for the pin!
Winner: Gran Metalik via pinfall (Samoan Driver)
They are doing MMA style announcements for the winner as well (the referee stands at the center of the ring with both men and raises the hand of the winner as the ring announcer announces it).
CWC First Round
HoHo Lun vs. Ariya Daivari
Lun is a younger wrestler from Hong Kong while Daivari is the younger brother of former WWE and TNA star Shawn Daivari/Sheik Abdul Bashir. Daivari refuses the handshake before the match and puts Lun in a side headlock as the match starts. Lun shoves Daivari into the ropes and then gets run over by a shoulder block. Daivari cartwheels over Lun and then attempts a clothesline, but Lun ducks it and hits a dropkick sending Daivari into the corner. Daivari hits a Superman Forearm in the corner and then takes Daivari over with a Snapmare followed by a Basement Dropkick for a nearfall. Lun hits a neckbreaker for a nearfall of his own. Daivari slams Lun into the corner and puts the boots to him before whipping him hard into the opposite corner. Daivari attempts a splash in the corner but Lun moves out of the way. Lun hits the ropes but runs right into a big Running High Knee for another nearfall for another nearfall. Lun slams his knee into Lun’s head repeatedly and then puts him in a headlock. Lun tries to fight out of it but Daivari slams him to the mat by the hair and keeps the headlock on. Lun finally fights it off and actually powers out of it only for Daivari to knee him in the gut. Daivari attempts a Roundhouse Kick but Lun ducks and then eats a 360 Kick from Daivari! Daivari gets a nearfall and then starts to talk trash to Lun while slapping him repeatedly. Daivari eats a Spinning Heel Kick from Lun as he hit the ropes. Lun leaps to the top and hits a Missile Dropkick. Lun attempts a German Suplex but Daivari blocks it and then he hits the Roaring Elbow! Daivari climbs up top and attempts the Magic Carpet Ride (Frog Splash), but Lun moves and then hits a Shining Wizard to the back of the head followed by a Superkick for a nearfall! Lun hits a beautiful Bridging German Suplex for the pin!

In his introduction video Petiot talks about not being a high flyer and says he will ground the high flyers and they won’t know what to do. Alexander talks about being from North Carolina and everyone thinks of Ric Flair when talking about Charlotte, but he wants to make people think of him when they think of Charlotte.

Clement Petiot vs. Cedric Alexander
Petiot is a French wrestler trained by Joey Ryan and Lance Storm while Alexander is a former ROH star trained by the legendary jobber George South. Petiot gets in Alexander’s face as he shakes his hand and then immediately takes Cedric down with a waist lock takeover. Alexander reverses it into a hammerlock but Petiot counters right back into one of his own. Alexander takes PEtiot down with a leg sweep followed by a series of armdrags. Petiot rolls to the floor and then Alexander teases a dive but backflips back into the ring as Petito got out of the way. Back in the ring Alexander hits a gorgeous Backflip Rana followed by a dropkick for a nearfall. Alexander charges at Petiot in the corner gets backdropped to the apron. Petiot hits a knee to the gut on Alexander as he went for a shoulder block. Petiot hits a series of shoulder blocks on Alexander in the corner. Petiot gets another nearfall and then hits a Snap Suplex for a quick one count and then he throws Alexander into the turnbuckles. Petiot hits a Gutwrench Suplex for another nearfall and then puts Alexander in a headlock. Petiot knees and elbows Alexander and then hits a kick to the back of the head followed by a Running Shoulder Block that sends Alexander into the turnbuckles. Petiot hits a Running Knee to the side of Alexander’s head in the corner for yet another nearfall. Alexander continues to fight from the bottom but Petiot puts him down everytime with a series of forearms. Petiot hangs Alexander in the ropes and attempts a Running Knee, but Alexander moves out of the way and hits a Whiplash followed by a Springboard Flying Clothesline! Alexander hits a series of Running Forearms in the corner and then goes for a Brainbuster, but Petiot blocks it and attempts a clothesline but Alexander counters out into an armdrag. Petiot clotheslines the hell out of Alexander with a Spinning Clothesline for a close nearfall. Petiot goes for the Spinning Clothesline again but Alexander ducks and hits the Lumbar Check (Belly-to-Back Suplex lifted into a Backstabber) for the pin!

Ibushi cuts a great promo saying that the ring is where he expresses himself and that the WWE audience is just a new audience for him to make happy. Maluta talks about the “Samoan Dynasty” and saying that he is the next in that line of great Samoans.

“The Golden Star” Kota Ibushi vs. “The Samoan Dragon” Sean Maluta
Ibushi was one of the biggest stars in Japan for several years as a top star in NJPW before injuring his back. He has only had a handful of matches since coming back from that injury. He is truly a human highlight reel. Maluta is the nephew of WWE Hall of Famer Afa of the Wild Samoans and is the cousin of Roman Reigns and the Usos. He was trained at the Wild Samoans Training School and has worked primarily in the Florida area (Afa’s school is in Florida). Ibushi looks to be in great shape despite not working much in the last year and a half. Ibushi kicks things off literally as he leg kicks Maluta repeatedly with some nasty leg kicks. Maluta tries to take Ibushi down with a waistlock takeover but Ibushi counters and puts Maluta in a wristlock. Maltua rolls through it and they trade hammerlocks as well. Maluta takes Ibushi down with a drop toe hold and then puts him in a waistlock. Ibushi reverses the waistlock only for Maluta to counter into a side headlock. Ibushi shoves Maluta into the ropes but eats a shoulder block from the Samoan. Ibushi leapfrogs a charging Maluta and then destroys Maluta with a Roundhouse Kick! Ibushi hits a series of forearms and then whips Maluta into the corner. Maluta floats over a charging Ibushi and connects with a big Forearm Smash. Maluta attempts the Samoan Splash off the top but Ibushi rolls out of the way and hits a Springboard Missile Dropkick. Ibushi backs Maluta into the corner with a big forearm but then runs into an elbow from Maluta. Maluta goes for a clothesline but Ibushi catches him with a T-Bone Suplex! Ibushi charges into a boot from Maluta and then Maluta hits a beautiful Diving Codebreaker off middle rope! Ibushi rolls to the floor and Maluta attempts a Somersault Plancha over the top and looked like he botched it as his head got caught on the top rope. He actually landed on the apron but continued to rotate and landed on Ibushi (who did catch him). Maluta tosses Ibushi into the ring and gets a nearfall before putting him in a chinlock. Ibushi fights Maluta off but Maluta comes right back with a Running Front Kick followed by a Neckbreaker! 1…2…NO Ibushi kicks out! Daniel puts out Ibushi’s former neck injury. Maluta hits a series of roundhouse kicks and then hits the ropes but Ibushi hits a gorgeous dropkick and both men are down now. Maluta attempts a series of strikes but Ibushi ducks and shows off his lightning quick hands with dazzling strikes! Ibushi follows up with a Spinning Back Kick and then a beautiful Roundhouse Kick and a Standing Moonsault! 1…2…NO Maluta kicks out! Ibushi lifts Maluta up to the top rope and attempts a Superplex, but Maluta blocks it and forearms Ibushi repeatedly knocking him to the mat. Ibushi leaps up and hits the Backflip Kick out of nowhere knocking Maluta to the floor! Ibushi hits the Triangle Moonsault from the ring post onto Maluta on the floor! Ibushi rolls Maluta back in the ring and gets another nearfall. Ibushi goes for a Half Nelson Suplex but Maluta fights it off and hits a series of elbows. Maluta hits a nasty Superkick of nowhere! 1…2…NO Ibushi kicks out! Maluta hits a series of nasty kicks in the head and then goes for a Roundhouse Kick but Ibushi ducks it and hits one of his own! Ibushi hits the Sitout Last Ride Powerbomb for the pin!
