?Yes, sir, we promised you a great main event?? The WWE video leads us into the show.
The Superstars video plays and we?re brought into the arena with a great pyro display. We?re welcomed to the show by Michael Cole and Jerry ?The King? Lawler. Raw will be providing two matches to tonight’s show. We?re going to start it off with Diva’s action.
Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix
Phoenix goes for a lock up but Kelly Kelly ducks it. Phoenix laughs it off before blocking a slap. Phoenix holds the arm before Kelly Kelly breaks her grip with a forearm. Phoenix blocks a kick and throws Kelly Kelly but she back flips and lands on her knees. Kelly Kelly lays in some kicks before being whipped to the corner where she slingshots over Phoenix. Kelly Kelly goes for a backslide pin but Phoenix doesn?t budge. Kelly Kelly rolls over her back and lands on her feet. She hits a hurricanrana and cradles Phoenix for a two count. Phoenix charges and Kelly Kelly sidesteps her, sending Phoenix out of the ring.
Kelly Kelly gets on the apron and goes for a cross-body block but Phoenix just catches her and puts her on her shoulder. Phoenix goes to drop her face first on the apron but Kelly Kelly slides off and throws her chest first into the apron. Kelly Kelly rolls her in and gets on the apron. Phoenix then snap shots her off the second rope and hits a guillotine into the bottom rope for a near fall. Phoenix lays in some kicks and elbows the neck before locking on a chin lock. Kelly Kelly fights up and elbows her. Phoenix sends her into the corner and charges into a sunset flip from Kelly Kelly for a near fall. Phoenix gets right back on the attack with some punches. Phoenix punches her a few times before being admonished. She goes for a running kick to the face but Kelly Kelly moves and Phoenix gets her leg hung up on the rope.
Phoenix eats some punches before locking her in the dragon sleeper. Kelly Kelly eventually fights out and Phoenix pushes her into the ropes. Phoenix charges and Kelly Kelly hangs her up on the second rope. Kelly Kelly hits a spinning head-scissors takeover before laying in some punches. A whip to the corner is reversed. Kelly Kelly hits some punches when Phoenix charges and hits a top rope cross-body for a near fall. Kelly Kelly hits a dropkick before going for a handspring back elbow. Phoenix counters that by getting her in electric chair position only for Kelly Kelly to victory roll for a near fall. Phoenix quickly, and viciously, clotheslines her down. Phoenix then hits the Glam Slam for the win!

Our Main Event for tonight will be Chris Masters vs. Mark Henry.

Shelton Benjamin’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. This will be ECW’s contribution to the show as we?re now welcomed by Josh Mathews and Matt Striker.
Shelton Benjamin vs. Tyler Reks
The match begins and they circle the ring. Benjamin hits a knee to the midsection and punches him back to the corner. Reks quickly fires back with some punches and an arm drag. Reks goes for a clothesline but Benjamin ducks it. Benjamin gets thrown to the corner and Reks charges only to be sidestepped. Benjamin then hits a nice German suplex before grounding and pounding him. Benjamin whips him hard into the corner before hitting a snapmare for a one count. Benjamin locks on a seated chin lock and wrenches it in. Reks fights up and elbows out. Reks hits some punches before going into the ropes and getting dropped by a Samoan Drop for a two count.
Benjamin gets him in the corner and hits some punches. Reks blocks a few before hitting some of his own. Reks has a whip reversed on him and he counters with a school boy roll up for a two count. Reks goes for a body slam but Benjamin slides off and goes for a clothesline which Reks ducks. Reks goes into the ropes and hits a diving clothesline for a two count. Reks sends him into the ropes and lowers his head only to eat a kick. Benjamin goes into the ropes and gets powerslammed down for a near fall. Reks goes to the top rope and comes off with a cross-body but Benjamin rolls through and pins him for a near fall. Benjamin has a kick blocked so he hits a dragon kick and hits Pay Dirt for the win!

We?re welcomed back to the show by Todd Grisham and Jim Ross. They briefly discuss CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy in a TLC Match before bringing us into a video hyping the match. That’s the true Main Event of Summerslam.
They promote the Main Event for Smackdown which will be Jeff and Matt Hardy with John Morrison taking on The Hart Dynasty and CM Punk.
R-Truth is making his way to the ring. He?ll be in action next.

Todd Grisham thanks Aerosmith for the use of their song ?You Gotta Move,? the official theme song of Summerslam.
Charlie Haas, the most underutilized talent in WWE, is in the ring. This means he?ll probably be squashed by R-Truth.
Charlie Haas vs. R-Truth
The bell rings and they lock up. Haas, who is sporting some long black tights, quickly gets R-Truth in a headlock. R-Truth whips him off and gets shoulder blocked down. Haas whips him into the corner only for R-Truth to slingshot over him, cartwheel, split under a clothesline, and back heel kick him in the face for a two count. R-Truth goes into the ropes and goes for a wheelbarrow bulldog but Haas slams him down hard! That was a nasty bump and R-Truth may have pinched a nerve in his neck! Haas covers for a two count before locking on an arm back neck wrench. R-Truth fights to his feet and punches out. R-Truth hits a sunset flip for a two count before being taken down by a big boot. Haas now locks on an inverted camel clutch. Haas then turns that to a nasty chin lock. R-Truth fights up and elbows before sending Haas hard into the corner.
R-Truth hits some nasty right hands before clotheslining him down twice. R-Truth sends him into the ropes for a hip toss and a near fall. Haas comes back with a nasty kick to the midsection before slamming him down by his hair. Haas goes for a jumping elbow drop but R-Truth moves. R-Truth then hits the Lie Detector for the win!

R-Truth celebrates with the crowd before reminded once again what our ?exciting? Main Event will be.

A John Morrison Superstars video plays. It’s a good build-up video.
Jerry ?The King? Lawler and Michael Cole welcome us back to the show before bringing us to the ?monumental? Raw Rebound. DX is dusted off and brought back from the shelf because they have no other ideas on what to do and John Cena and Randy Orton are ready for Summerslam. They played some sad piano music as Rhodes and DiBiase attacked them like it was such a big deal. No one plays that for Legacy when they get squashed.
They now run down the rest of the Summerslam card. Half is recycled from previous years and half is fresh.
Mark Henry makes his way to the ring. He?ll face Chris Masters next.
-Commercial Break-
Mark Henry vs. Chris Masters
The match begins and they circle the ring. They lock up and Henry pushes Masters into the ropes. Masters looks shocked as Henry taunts him. They circle again before Masters offers the test of strength. Henry goes for it but Masters kicks and punches him a few times before attempting a body slam but he can?t lift Henry. Henry clubs him down and hits a body slam. Henry gets him in the corner and is backed up by the referee. They circle the ring again and Henry goes for a lock up but Master ducks and gets a waist lock. Masters punches Henry before going for a suplex but he can?t lift him and is instead suplexed by Henry.
Henry head-butts him to the corner and he hip tosses him out. Henry charges into a big boot from Masters. Masters goes for the Masterlock but he can?t lock his hands. Henry back elbows him and Masters comes back with forearms. Michael Cole tries to explain the Masterlock by saying it’s like a Full Nelson and Lawler says it basically is. How about it just is a Full Nelson? It’s a Full Nelson ? that’s all it is! These numb-nuts are broadcasting wrestling and they can?t even recognize a Full Nelson?!
Masters goes into the ropes only to get clotheslined down. Henry puts him in the middle of the ring and goes for a big splash but Masters moves. Masters lays in some kicks and a leg drop on the downed Henry for a near fall. Masters hits a sledge to the back before elbow dropping him on the apron. Masters gets back into the ring and chin locks him. Masters wrenches it in tight and Henry looks like he’s going to sleep. Henry finally gets up and gets clubbed. Masters goes for the Masterlock but can?t lock his hands so Henry backs him into the corner.
Henry blocks a right hand and lays him out with one of his own. Henry hits a clothesline and an avalanche. Henry goes for his finisher but Masters blocks it and goes for the Masterlock. He almost gets it but he clubs Henry who put up a good fight. Henry hit the World’s Strongest Slam and covers but Masters is too close to the ropes as he gets a rope break. Masters then gets out of the ring and gets counted out. Would it kill them to just give Mark Henry a clean win? Most of his wins since going over to Raw have been by count-out.

Mark Henry is apparently happy with his victory as the show ends.

Mike’s Thoughts
We had a tremendous Superstars last week and then we have a complete 180 this week as this show was trash. What would compel them to stuff four matches into a one hour show when the three matches, three brands format works so much better? It made no sense. I would comment on the matches but there’s nothing to really comment on. Nothing went over six minutes and none of the matches ever really got started. This was a disappointing episode.
Just a quick note before I close it out: I?d like to thank Anthony Valvo for finally recognizing WWE Superstars with a point. As a college student studying to be a history teacher I feel like I?m qualified to hand out a gold star. A gold star to you, Mr. Valvo, for giving Superstars a point and for reading my long recaps every week!
