WREG-TV out of Memphis, Tennessee is reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler and his fiance Lauryn McBride were both arrested early Friday morning on charges of domestic assault. Both Lawler and McBride were booked into the Shelby County Jail at 1:00 a.m. on Friday morning after getting into a domestic dispute at Lawler’s home in East Memphis.
Both have made claims that the other assaulted them. McBride claims that Lawler hit her in the head and pushed her into a stove, then brought out an unloaded pistol and told her to kill herself. Lawler’s claim is that McBride was intoxicated, scratched his face, threw a candle at him, kicked him in the groin and had brought out the pistol into the kitchen.
With his arrest, WWE immediately issued a statement to WREG-TV, announcing that due to their company policy on domestic violence cases, they would be indefinitely suspending Lawler.
“WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest.”
Lawler and McBride remain inside the Shelby County Jail in Memphis as of this writing.
