The Smackdown intro brings us into a packed arena for another edition of Smackdown! In the ring is Chris Jericho for the Highlight Reel as commentary hypes the Money in the Bank Ladder match this Sunday!
Highlight Reel with guest: Dean Ambrose
Jericho tells everyone to be quiet, repeating himself before introducing the Highlight Reel with an all new set, a brand new Jeritron 6500, and a state of the art $20,000 carpet. I’ve got a lot of money, but $20,000 is very expensive. A lot of equity in this ring right now, a lot of equity in that Money in the Bank briefcase that I’m going to win this Sunday. I’m going to win because it’s a match that I create, a match that came out of the creative genius that is Chris Jericho. I’m going to win no matter what my guest tonight thinks, a man that I hate with every fiber of my being…Dean Ambrose. Ambrose’s music hits as he makes his way to the ring, and we go back to this past Monday when Ambrose hosted Ambrose Asylum with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns as guests, bringing up the “What If?” of him winning the MITB match and cashing in on their title match this Sunday. Ambrose was the one standing tall, as we go back to the ring where Ambrose speaks up. Congrats on the new set man, I really like the carpet. He checks out the carpet, coffee cup in hand as Jericho stops him to inform everyone that the carpet is made of 100% pure Serengeti yak’s hair. Why’d you even bring coffee to the ring anyway? Ambrose says it’s the gift of Jericho, man, I’m just drinking it in. Jericho won’t let Ambrose ruin his carpet or try to pull a Shawn Michaels and put my head through the Jeritron. In fact, you and everyone else just lost your Jeritron privileges! Jericho has the monitor raised up as he tells Ambrose he hasn’t forgotten what he did to him. Ruining my $15,000 jacket, and throwing me onto sixty nine thumbtacks. The holes on my flesh have healed, but the hole you have won’t when you lose the MITB ladder match. You’re not gonna win it, I am. You’re not gonna cash in the briefcase, I am. I don’t care if it’s Rollins or Re–Jericho is interrupted by the music of Kevin Owens, who comes out to the ring with mic in hand. Neither of you are going to cash in that contract, because that contract is mine. Light booing from the crowd prompts Owens to say these idiots from Mississippi can boo all they want, to which they boo even louder. Once I get that contract, I’m certainly not going to tell anyone I’m going to cash it in. Maybe it’ll be that night, maybe it’ll be at Summerslam–Owens is interrupted by Alberto Del Rio, who asks what they know about winning the contract, cashing in, and becoming champion. He’s quickly interrupted by Cesaro, who can’t even get a word in before Sami Zayn’s music hits. Zayn says they keep going on and on about Money in the Bank and that’s well and good, but tonight, Jericho, Kevin, Alberto, are going up against three of the best WWE has to offer, and…why are you looking at me like that? Cesaro is not pleased about not getting a word in, as Jericho yells at them calling them “stupid idiots” to which the two of them go into the ring to stand off with them. Jericho starts talking them down as Ambrose pours coffee on the carpet, leading into a brawl between all six men. Commentary hypes a big Fatal 4-Way Match between four men involved in the WWE Tag Title match on Sunday. That Fatal 4-Way is up next!

Gotch gets involved, but Cass deals with him before dealing with Gallows on the outside…until Kofi dives off the top turnbuckle onto both of them! Aidan English gets back in, but gets dropped with a Trouble in Paradise as Kofi picks up the win!

New Day celebrate in the ring as we get replays from the match, including the finish. The other three teams look on displeased from outside as we go backstage, where Renee Young is with Natalya and Becky Lynch as we get a preview of their tag match against Charlotte and Dana Brooke this Sunday with Natalya taking on Charlotte. Natalya says she’s lucky to have Becky in her corner because she’s a true friend and if anyone understands what it’s like to be used by Charlotte, it’s Becky. Becky says they’re like Mulder and Scully from The X-Files, humming the theme tune and saying the truth is out there…and the truth is Charlotte can’t win a fair fight on her own. In fact, as she proved on Monday night she can’t even win with Dana’s help. Natalya says they tried to show Dana the light, and we hear Charlotte laughing as she and Dana walk in to interrupt. Charlotte says Dana has seen the light, that’s why she’s with her and not with you two wannabe champions. Dana says they’re one hundred percent clear on their partnership, so you two need to get out of our way because Charlotte needs to get ready to beat Natalya tonight. This turns into a standoff between all four women as we go to commercial.

The Lucha Dragons and Titus stand tall in the ring as commentary talks about the dream match between John Cena and AJ Styles. We go back to Monday night for the contract signing. Cena calls it a history making match, and this is a history making moment. Styles says that this Sunday, he’ll run circles around Cena. Cena offers one of two contracts: one for a straight up singles match, and one with The Club at ringside. This starts a war of words between both men, before AJ signs the contract for the singles match. Backstage, Renee Young is with The Club asking about the big dream match between Styles and Cena. Styles says he will prove Cena can’t beat him this Sunday, and that Cena tried to call him out like he wouldn’t sign the contract? This is the biggest Money in the Bank ever, and I’m going to prove that I am…phenomenal! We hear a horn blow as New Day interrupt, with Xavier saying that Styles’ whining goes great with his teenage emo haircut. Kofi asks why AJ calls himself AJ Styles when there’s nothing stylish about you! Big E jokes about AJ’s “I wear socks with my sandals” haircut as AJ challenges Xavier to a match later tonight.
