The Addiction (Christopher Daniels and Kazarian) defeated War Machine to become the new Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championship at the 5/9 ROH live event in Dearborn, Michigan on Monday night in what was described as an impromptu match.
War Machine had originally defended the titles earlier in the night defeating Kazuchika Okada and Gedo (the match was previously billed as non-title until War Machine agreed to put the titles on the line). Hanson pinned Gedo to secure the win and title defense.
According to a live report by The Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online, Daniels and Kazarian then came out accusing War Machine of being “fraudulent champions” claiming they were the best tag team in ROH and pointed out they never got a rematch when they lost the titles. Despite issuing a challenge for 5/14 in New York, War Machine offered up a title match immediately – take it or leave it. The title change then took place later on in the show.
