AAA/LUCHA UNDERGROUND
*WARNING: LUCHA UNDERGROUND SPOILERS BELOW*
Several Stars Leave AAA
This week website, Adictos al Deportes, announced that AAA star Steve Pain, Carta Brava Jr., and Goya Kong have all left AAA recently. Steve Pain acknowledged this on his Facebook and he hasn’t appeared for AAA since December. He’s been in AAA since 2013, though he has left AAA briefly in the past, and has been working a lot more on the Indies in America recently. Kong and Brava are in a relationship together and recently announced that Goya was pregnant with Brava’s child. Goya Kong left CMLL last year to jump to AAA and now has left AAA less than nine months later. Carta Brava Jr. has been with AAA since 2013 but was never given a chance to break out of the opening spot despite constantly putting on great matches with other high flyers. Brava will surely get a chance with All-Elite soon. With all of the rumors of Konnan starting a new promotion those three would be likely members to jump to that group, if it ever starts, and Steve Pain was someone Konnan brought into AAA. Also, a few days before “Rey de Reyes” Mini Charly Manson left AAA as well and it is unknown what his reasons were. Blue Demon Jr. also no-showed “Rey de Reyes” so he may be gone again as well.
Rey vs. Angle
This past weekend Rey Misterio Jr. faced Kurt Angle in a 2/3 Falls Match at the inaugural UR Fight event which was a hybrid Boxing, MMA, and Pro Wrestling event. Misterio won the match after rapper Riff Raff (who is terrible) stopped Kurt Angle from using a chair and Rey hit a 619 followed by a Splash off the top. The match was pretty good until Riff Raff got involved. Rey and Kurt made a huge payday for the event but the overall show was a pretty huge failure as barely 200 people were in attendance and the iPPV didn’t have many buys either.
Sami Callihan Signs with Lucha Underground
Website, ProWrestlingSheet, has revealed that former WWE star Sami Callihan has signed with Lucha Underground and will debut with the promotion for season three. He had a dark match during season two.
Fenix Injured
This week WrestleCon announced that AAA/Lucha Underground star Fenix was being pulled from WrestleCon’s Super Show this weekend due to an injury he suffered this past weekend. We don’t have much info on the injury but WrestleCon said that he was expected to miss time over the next few weeks, hopefully we will have more information soon. TNA’s Tigre Uno replaced Fenix in his match on the Super Show which will see Uno team with AAA star Jack Evans and Bestia 666 against AAA/Lucha Underground stars Drago, Aerostar, and Fireball (Octagon Jr.) in a Trios Match. WrestleCon still hopes Fenix will be allowed to fly to WrestleCon to do the autograph signings.
Lucha Underground Turns Down Netflix Deal
This week Angelico did an interview in Spain and he mentioned that Netflix had offered a deal to Lucha Underground, but that it was really low so they turned it down hoping to get a better deal down the line. He also said that he will be returning to the ring for Lucha Underground, following his knee injury, for season three tapings in April.
Cage Pulled from All-Elite
We mentioned last week that Lucha Underground star Cage was being advertised for a match with CMLL’s Rush at the 03/30 All-Elite event, but during the week Cage was pulled from the show and was replaced by TNA’s Lashley. His contract with Lucha Underground is being blamed for Cage getting pulled. It is unclear what the reason is other than the contract. It may be because of All-Elite’s new TV deal or it could be because AAA asked Lucha Underground to have him removed from the show.
AAA Blows iPPV Again
A few days before “Rey de Reyes” AAA’s iPPV website announced that “Rey de Reyes” would be streaming live on iPPV, but just a few hours before the event the company that does the iPPV’s (internet.tv) revealed that it would be canceling the showing of the event. They blamed the issues on AAA and AAA has not made a single comment about what happened and they likely won’t. No one should be willing to spend a dime on a AAA PPV or iPPV at this point. Until they prove that they can be competent in this regard they don’t deserve a dime.
Lucha Underground 03/19 “Season Three” Tapings Results

10) Gift of the Gods Title: Johnny Mundo def. Sexy Star (c) to win the title!
* NOTES *
– They taped these shows out of order so there is no telling which episodes any of this will air on.
– The first match was a match that was decided by Dario’s “Dial of Doom Wheel” that saw Dario spinning a wheel with random luchadors who Matanza had not faced yet. Matanza pinned Son of Havoc clean.
– Rey pinned Pentagon clean in what was said to be a good match following a Mexican Destroyer. After the match Pentagon called Vampiro a “little bitch.”
– Ivelisse-Havok may have been a Dark Match. It was said to have been a really great match and the fans chanted “please come back” at her. She is a former TNA Knockouts Champion.
– Pentagon broke Cortez Castro’s arm after their match.
– After Puma’s match Mil Muertes ran out and fought with him. Catrina pulled Muertes away.
– The Weapons of Mass Destruction Match was a weapons match with the Temple being decorated like a war zone. The match was said to have been really great and very brutal. Both men set up a ladder and began climbing it when Mariposa (Cheerleader Melissa) ran out and tried to help her brother Marty. Killshot knocked her off the ladder sending her through a table and then Killshot hit a Ghetto Stomp off the ladder putting Marty through another table for the pin.
– Puma ran out after Muertes’ match and again Catrina pulled Mil away from the fight.
– Mundo took the title away from Sexy Star in a match that saw interference from Evans, Black, The Mack, and several others. Sexy Star cried after the match.
Lucha Underground 03/20 “Season Three” Tapings Results
1) Lucha Underground World Title: Matanza (c) def. The Mack to retain the title!
2) Best of Five Series Match #1: Cage def. Texano Jr.
3) Steve Pain def. Scorpio Sky
4) Dr. Wagner Jr. & Famous B def. Son of Havoc & Mascarita Sagrada
5) Ivelisse Velez fought Mariposa to a NO CONTEST
5) Gift of the Gods Title: Sexy Star (c) def. Jack Evans to retain the title!
6) Best of Five Series Match #2: Cage def. Texano Jr.
7) Lucha Underground World Title: Matanza (c) def. Puma King to retain the title!
* NOTES *
– The opener was said to have been really good.
– Before the second match Dario announced another Best of Five Series, this time with Texano and Cage, with the winner getting a “unique opportunity.”
– Pain vs. Sky was a dark match but was said to have been really good with both guys getting a standing ovation. Steve Pain just left AAA.
– Sexy Star was still Gift of the Gods Champ here so that match will obviously air before the Mundo/Sexy match and it was used to set up that match. Mundo and Black tried to get involved in but then Fenix, Drago, and Aerostar ran out and chased them off.
– Matanza-Puma was really good and Muertes got involved, Spearing Puma, leading to Matanza taking advantage of this for the win.
AAA 03/23 “Rey de Reyes” San Luis Potosi Results
1) Fabi Apache, Mascarita Sagrada, Octagon Jr., & Pimpinela Escarlata def. Taya Valkyrie, Mini Psycho Clown, Taurus, & Mamba
2) AAA Trios Titles: Cuervo, Escoria, & El Zorro (c) def. Aerostar, Drago, & Fenix to retain the titles!
3) AAA Tag Team Titles Tables, Ladders, & Chairs Match: Averno & Chessman (c) def. Daga & Joe Lider and Argenis & Australian Suicide to retain the titles!
4) Rey de Reyes Torneo Finals: Pentagon Jr. def. Villano IV & La Parka Jr.
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. def. Psycho Clown
6) AAA World Heavyweight Title: Texano Jr. def. El Mesias to win the vacant title!
* NOTES *
– Pentagon Jr. and the rest of Perros del Mal did a tribute to Perro Aguayo Jr. before the show started.
– Mini Psycho Clown replaced Mini Charly Manson, who left AAA, and Octagon was the surprise luchador in that match. Octagon Jr. pinned Mamba with the 450 Splash.
– Zorro pinned Fenix in the segunda after a Mexican Destroyer and then continued to attack him after the match.
– Jack Evans missed the show due to a case of food poisoning, and confirmed this fact himself on Twitter, with Argenis replacing him. Averno was injured in the match.
– Blue Demon Jr. no showed the Finals with no explination so it was made a 3-Way Dance. Parka pinned Villano and then Pentagon pinned Parka to win the Rey de Reyes. He dedicated the win to Perro Aguayo Jr., but after the match Psicosis, Pagano, Halloween, and Damian 666 ran out and attacked Pentagon. They claimed to be the “real” Perros del Mal so it looks like they will be doing a Perros del Mal vs. Perros del Mal feud here.
– Wagner-Clown was a big brawl with lots of blood. Wagner fouled Psycho leading to the win and he demanded a title shot after the match.
– Texano won with a Powerbomb in the Main Event. He was the champion before Alberto.

It was announced this week that Chicago, IL promotion GALLI will be hosting a Training Seminar from legendary lucha trainer Jorge “Skayde” Rivera on 04/03 in Villa Park, Illinois. Skayde used to have a pretty sizeable influence on wrestling in America due to his time working with Ultimo Dragon’s Toryumon Gym and CHIKARA’s school as well. He had a falling out with Mike Quackenbush and CHIKARA a few years ago and hasn’t done many of these seminars in America since then. The fee for the seminar is only $25.

6) Sky Team (Volador Jr., Mistico II, & Valiente) def. Dragon Rojo Jr., Polvora, & Rey Escorpion
* NOTES *
– Dorada-Cavernario was excellent with both guys pulling out all the stops in the match. Cavernario won the first fall with a Powerbomb and Dorada won the second with a Springboard Hurricanrana. Third fall is where they really broke out every crazy spot. Dorada won with the Dorada Screwdriver.
– It was almost impossible to follow Dorada-Cavernario but Mistico II damn sure tried to do it with some insane spots during the match including a Springboard Rana on Escorpion off the shoulders of his partners and a beautiful Flying Rana when Volador sent him over the top onto Escorpion on the floor. If you are going to give someone the most improved luchador over the last year, it’s got to be Mistico II by a large margin. If he can stay healthy he may eventually reach the original Mistico’s level, at least in-ring wise.

INDY & OTHER NEWS
Ciclon Ramirez Jr. Gets Dragon Gate Try Out
A luchador called Ciclon Ramirez Jr. received a Try Out this week in Japan for the Dragon Gate promotion. CIMA introduced him before the show started and then he faced EITA to a five minute exhibition draw. EITA wrestled a lot in Mexico a few years ago so that is natural. There was a Ciclon Ramirez Jr. that wrestled on the Indies several years ago but he never did much so this is a bit bizarre. Either it is a new Ciclon Ramirez Jr. or the guy who wrestled a few Indies. Ramirez and EITA faced each other again in a draw the next night.
