Alex Kahrs reviews WWE Smackdown for 11/5/15

WWE Smackdown Review (Layin’ the SmarkDown!)

Hello Wrestleviewniverse, and welcome to another exciting edition of Layin The SmarkDown! This was a pretty fun show all around, with some great in-ring action and some excellent promos.

ADR/Zeb Promo: Eh…I’m still not feeling this angle, but the promo was pretty good. I kinda get the vibe of almost ironic heel heat from these two, assuming of course that’s what they’re going for; if they’re trying to do a face thing, it isn’t working.

ADR/Neville: The match, on the other hand, was some sort of amazing. Really liked ADR trying to keep Neville grounded, and Neville’s comeback before ultimately taking the fall to what appears to be a new finisher from ADR. I do also like the post-match with ADR trying to break Neville’s arm, leading to Swagger coming out for the save. It looks like we’re getting a new ADR/Swagger feud with the alignments switched around; I’m cautiously interested in seeing where this goes.

Ascension/Usos: Welcome back, Usos! Good match to show us that they can get right back into the swing of things.

Wyatts vs. Good Guy Tag Teams, Inc: I originally had this labeled as the main event as I was writing the recap, and in some ways I wish it had been to emphasize the Wyatt Family’s dominance…but the match still served a purpose. Good efforts from G2T2, but the finish was fairly obvious. Still, good stuff here.

Ambrose/Kevin Segment: I’m a fan of John Denver, so thank you for that reference Dean. Ambrose brought a lot of the entertainment tonight, to make up for the lack of New Day. Owens trying to bring Ambrose “back to reality” was also pretty fun.

Barrett/Ryback: Hey, remember when Wade Barrett won matches? Those were the days. This match was alright for what it was.

Team B.A.D. Segment: I liked this so much. One thing about this angle I like is the arguing amongst the teams of their various pecking orders. If it means a chance to Sasha Banks to really break out on the main roster, I’m all for it.

Natalya/Tamina: Tamina keeping the peace is a good anchor. Good match with both women playing to their strengths.

Reigns/Rollins…Oh, Wait…: This would be the second time Reigns/Rollins has had to be scrapped, as they were set to face each other when Reigns was injured a couple years ago I believe. Alas, we’ll never know how that goes. The title tournament will be interesting, though.

Main Event: Even though the elimination tag had a case to be main event, it was probably for the better we got this. Man, what a match. Dear WWE, please make Ambrose/Owens an actual feud going forward. Everything about this match was great, including Owens yelling stuff to play to the crowd. The feigning a low blow to get a DQ win was a classic heel tactic, which makes Owens a classic heel who deserves all the push in the world.

That’s it for this week. What did you think of the show? Did you feel weird about certain people (namely New Day) not being around because of the European tour? Are you enjoying the direction this Divas Revolution is going? Are you actually interested in Alberto Del Rio working with Zeb Colter, and if so can you convince me this will be any good? Let me know in the comments, or come bug me on Twitter @Power2TheSmarks! Till next time, this is Alex Kahrs reminding you to be excellent to each other. Party on, dudes!
