Former wrestler and NWA promoter Bob Geigel passed away on Thursday (10/30) at the age of 90 according to a report by Dave Meltzer. Geigel had been suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease over the last several years. Geigel wrestled from the 1950s to the late 1970s and was known for running NWA Central States in St. Louis, which promiently featured former NWA Champion and WWE Hall of Famer Harley Race. Geigel also was the figurehead president of the NWA in 3 different periods spanning from 1978 to 1987.
WWE issued the following statement on Geigel’s passing:
WWE is saddened to learn that Bob Geigel, legendary wrestler and promoter, passed away Thursday at age 90.
Inside the squared circle, Geigel captured multiple championships as part of the National Wrestling Alliance. Beyond in-ring competition, he also acted as NWA’s president for nearly a decade.
