Berwyn, Illinois (The Eagles Club)
Commentators: Dave Prazak & Portia Perez
Recap by: Jason Namako of WrestleView.com
We kick off SHIMMER Volume 49 with a promo in the parking lot of the Eagles Club by the new SHIMMER Tag Team Champions, The Canadian NINJAS. Portia Perez says that Volume 49 is a landmark for SHIMMER because its 49 volumes of the Canadian NINJAS doing the right thing. The Canadian NINJAs being the most fighting champions in SHIMMER history. The Canadian NINJAS being the longest reigning champions in SHIMMER history and the Canadian NINJAS being the 1st 2-time champions in SHIMMER history. Portia says that for years, we have wrestled who we’re told to wrestle, where we’re told to wrestle, against teams we’ve never even seen before. We were told by the so-called “legends” of SHIMMER, the so-called “veterans” of SHIMMER, that we needed to prove ourselves. Portia says what makes Volume 49 so significant, so important in the history of SHIMMER is that its the day that the rose-colored glasses have been ripped from the faces of the Canadian NINJAS. We are the SHIMMER Tag Team Champions, we don’t have to prove ourselves to anyone. Nicole Matthews says that Leva Bates & Allison Danger have been beaking about getting a title shot? Funny, I seem to remember us eliminating them from the 4-way match on Volume 48. I also seem to remember them never beating us, or never beating a team of significance to earn a title shot. Matthews says that Leva may have gotten a fluke victory over Portia at SHINE because she clearly cheated, but singles matches don’t earn ya tag team title shots. Portia says that tonight, they have Kana & LuFisto, the next “Johnny-come-lately” tag-team that think that they deserve the SHIMMER Tag Team Titles. Matthews says that they have never been given what they earned, so now, we’re taking it.
We go to the ring for our opening match.

Every day, every night, every waking moment because these people here who “love you so much”, they don’t know what you did to me. You not only beat me and made an injury that was manageable even worse, you didn’t even ask how I was. You made this personal, Melissa, not me and I didn’t do this and I didn’t create THIS, YOU DID! 5 years, I waited for you because I’d knew I’d get you one day and guess what, Melissa? Not only did I beat you, I beat you in your own backyard and yes, Melissa, it feels really good to wear the SHIMMER belt around my waist because I deserve this, but I didn’t deserve what you did to me. So, this is just the start of a very long road because I’m here and I’m here to stay and I’m gonna look forward to ripping you apart, little piece by little piece. You’re the only woman on this Earth that gets me this mad. So tonight, I have Athena. Well, well done Athena. You should be privileged to step into the ring with someone like me, so I’ll give you a go and you know why I’ll give you a go? ‘Cause its not you, Melissa, whose in there, its Athena, not you and that’s what makes me feel so good.
