Kelly Kelly (real name Barbara Blank) was released by WWE on 9/28 in a move that was largely expected months ago. As reported on earlier, Kelly was offered a new long-term contract extension by WWE, wouldn’t sign it, asked for time off and her days of being full-time with the company became limited. WWE gave her time off in June with the understanding she would be back full-time.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that she had to turn down many media offers that came her way due to her contractual obligations to WWE. One situation in particular saw her do an ad campaign photo shoot for “Let if Fly Energy” featuring UFC fighters Gray Maynard and Ryan Bader. While doing the shoot, she got a text from Triple H that her proposed 2013 photo calendar she was selling on her website needed to be approved by WWE.
Another issue was that she had done a lingerie photo shoot and WWE demanded she take the photos down off her Twitter account. Kelly had also been developing neck problems during her in-ring career and was told to go see Dr. Joseph Maroon (WWE’s head of medical). She instead decided to get examinded by her own doctor.
