On January 17, AEW’s Buddy Matthews filed to trademark the name “Hell Hounds” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Matthews’ trademark filing comes just two days after his tag team partner Brody King filed to trademark “Hounds of Hell.”
Matthews filed the trademark under his real name of Matthew Adams and with no legal representation. Matthews filed the trademark using a Plant City, Florida address where Malakai Black and Zelina Vega’s Dark Arts gym does business.
Black is believed to have finished up with AEW and headed back to WWE. Matthews and King are scheduled to square off against Gates of Agony next Saturday’s AEW Collision: Homecoming episode. Julia Hart, who has also been part of the House of Black is set to face Jamie Hayter a second time on this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.
AEW has been hinting in recent weeks that Black has left the company, with most recently during a backstage segment on last Wednesday’s Dynamite, in which Adam Copeland had told King and Hart that he respects them both and wanted to have a faction with them. He then went on to say that it was time for them to step up and take the reigns.
