Backstage news from Saturday’s AEW Full Gear PPV

Fightful Select has provided some backstage news from Saturday’s AEW Full Gear pay-per-view, which took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

  • Darby Allin was actually driving during the backstage segment at the conclusion of the PPV.
  • There were no reports of any significant injuries coming out of the PPV.
  • Ricky Starks was backstage appeared to be on good terms with everyone. His appearance for the GCW Dream On show at The American Dream Mall earlier in the day was said to have required approval by AEW.
  • Danny Cage from Monster Factory and Steve Maclin were seen backstage, as Maclin was there to support his wife, Deonna Purrazzo.
  • Madison Rayne was the producer and agent for the Deonna Purrazzo vs. Anna Jay match.
  • The Hurt Syndicate’s takeover of the press conference was originally planned for the WrestleDream PPV last month. However the decision of having Bobby Lashley debut was postponed.
  • The Renegade Twins were backstage and are expected to return to in-ring action soon.
  • AEW was said to have been very pleased with the reception and crowd reaction to the Costco Guys’ appearance during Zero Hour. Both sides seem interested in working again in the future.
  • The Rizzler was popular backstage with visitors, talent and staff taking photos with him.
  • QT Marshall advocated for the match with the Costco Guys’ to be booked in the middle of Zero Hour to help retain viewers. However, it closed out Zero Hour instead.
