President-Elect Donald Trump in an officially official statement, announced on Tuesday evening he has selected Linda McMahon as Secretary for the Department of Education.

Trump’s statement is as follows:

“It is my great honor to announce that Linda McMahon, former Administrator of the Small Business Administration, will be the United States Secretary of Education…As Secretary of Education, Linda will fight tirelessly to expand ‘Choice’ to every State in America, and empower parents to make the best Education decisions for their families,” the press release added. “Linda served for two years on the Connecticut Board of Education, where she was one of fifteen members overseeing all Public Education in the State, including its Technical High School system.”

Report: President-Elect Donald Trump to select Linda McMahon as Secretary for Department of Education

According to several news media outlets, including CNN and FOX, President-Elect Donald Trump is expected select Linda McMahon to serve as the Secretary for the Department of Education in his new Cabinet.

Both CNN and FOX News note in their reports sources familiar with the situation confirmed McMahon as Trump’s pick on Tuesday evening.

Linda, who is the former CEO of WWE served as administrator of the Small Business Administration from 2017 to 2019 during Trump first administration.

She ran twice for the US Senate in Connecticut, having lost in 2010 and then losing again in 2012. According to the website opensecrets.org, Linda self-funded both of her campaigns, spending $50.1 million in 2010 and $48.7 million for her 2012 campaign. The website also reports Linda previously donated more that $7 million to two pro-Trump super PAC’s.

Linda’s husband, Vince McMahon is currently under federal investigation for sex trafficking, sexual abuse and sexual harassment, which was filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant this past January.
