Introduction
Finally, Mr. V has come back…home.
Welcome to the latest edition of “From the Desk of Mr. V”. I am Anthony “Mr. V” Valvo, your Wrestleview resident “language arts and physical education” teacher with the same material, but different names, matches, and articles.
Quote of the Week
“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing”. – Benjamin Franklin
A Special Note
First off, it has been since November 9, 2011 since the last Mr. V column (the Year-End awards excluding). First off, if any readers are not a friend of mine on Facebook I stated that I was taking a hiatus. It was not burnout, but rather because the workload of a teacher is endless and I had the blessing from Adam Martin to pursue my teaching ventures. The hard work paid off and now I will be adding more responsibilities as a language arts and physical education teacher for the 2012-2013 school year. Honestly, I am thrilled to be able to continue my column throughout the summer. For those who were patient enough, I thank you. I hope the reader is not disappointed.
The Teacher’s Lecture
What happened since the events of November 7, 2011? (Part 1 of 3)
Well, I think a lot happened since the last true “Mr. V” column. What I decided to write is what happened during professional wrestling from November 7 – November 13, 2011. I would like to type the television results of WWE, TNA, and ROH programming as well as the storylines in a 6-part series. The results may surprise you where they are at after a mere seven months.
From the November 7, 2011 episode of Monday Night Raw (Taped in Liverpool, UK)
Results:
John Morrison def. Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero)
Mason Ryan def. JTG
Alberto Del Rio def. Kofi Kingston
Jack Swagger (w/Vickie Guerrero) def. Santino Marella
The Miz and R-Truth def. John Cena and Zack Ryder
Where are they on the WWE card now?
John Morrison – Morrison’s contract expired November of 2011. His last match was a loss in a Falls Count Anywhere match vs. The Miz. Since his release, he is doing some acting and occasionally wrestles.
Dolph Ziggler – Ziggler is still hanging around the main to mid-card level in the WWE. He is also associated with Guerrero and currently are in a bit of a losing streak along with Guerrero’s other client Jack Swagger. Ziggler did earn a few championship opportunities (WWE Championship and Tag Team Championship), but fell short of obtaining another reign of any kind since losing his United States Championship to Zack Ryder at TLC 2011.
Mason Ryan – Ryan is pretty much a “Superstars” wrestler. I can’t provide much else.
JTG – When on Raw since November 2011 he was jobbed out to Brodus Clay. Other than that, the only noticeable thing (if anything) was that Alicia Fox bedazzled his new ring attire and he wrestles frequently on WWE NXT.
Alberto Del Rio – At the time, he was the WWE Champion (he would lose it to CM Punk at Survivor Series). A few weeks after that, he tore his groin muscle and was out of action until April 2012. He was not able to defend his title at “Royal Rumble” winner and was not on the WrestleMania card. While he is in the title picture on Smackdown, he has lost a bit of steam since returning from injury.
Kofi Kingston – At this time, Kingston was a WWE Tag Team Champion as a part of “Air Boom” and his partner, Evan Bourne, was suspended. Since then he lost the tag titles at a live event to Primo and Epico, only to re-gain the WWE Tag Team Championship again with R-Truth.
Jack Swagger – He was a United States Champion, ending Zack Ryder’s run in January 2012 (and some may say, Ryder’s “push”). He also changed his hairstyle to something of a 12-year-old boy ready for his school picture. While his wrestling was adequate, he is not as successful since losing his US Title to Santino Marella.
Santino Marella – He was just there for comic relief for the rest of 2011. However, when he came in as a replacement for Randy Orton in the 2012 Elimination Chamber match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship he turned out a marvelous performance. He defeated Swagger for the United States Championship and surprisingly maintained it for almost 100 days with victories over Swagger, David Otunga, and The Miz.
The Miz and R-Truth (The Awesome Truth) – Well after this match The Awesome Truth got to battle John Cena and The Rock in a tag team match at Survivor Series. The team was short lived after their defeat, as The Miz took out R-Truth one day later. The Miz is still getting a heel reaction, but not nearly as much as last year. R-Truth was suspended a few days after this particular Raw, but came back and feuded with the Miz. R-Truth then began teaming up with Kofi Kingston and won his first WWE Tag Team Championship on April 30th over Primo and Epico.
John Cena and Zack Ryder – Well, Zack Ryder pulled off a miracle and defeated Dolph Ziggler for the United States Championship at TLC 2011. However, that reign was short-lived after falling in love with Eve and being destroyed by Kane. A vulnerable Ryder lost his title to Jack Swagger weeks later. Since then Ryder still has the popular YouTube Show “Z! True Long Island Story”, but received little time on Raw. As for John Cena, he is still The Face of Raw for the most part and got his revenge on The Miz and R-Truth later in November of 2011. Cena then would be in feuds with Kane, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, and currently The Big Show (also “Big Johnny”, I refuse to spell out his last name because it is hard to spell). While his feuds with Lesnar and Kane ended in victory, he was unable to defeat The Rock (who was his nemesis for almost a year) at WrestleMania XXVIII.
Storylines from the November 7, 2011 Raw (How did they end?)
John Cena’s opening act in which he hyped up his match at Survivor Series – The story ended at Survivor Series. John Cena and The Rock (never before, never again) as a team defeated The Miz and R-Truth and the rest was history. Cena would continue his feud with The Rock, while The Miz and R-Truth split up at the end of November.
A CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio confrontation over Del Rio’s WWE Championship – The storyline continued when Punk defeated Del Rio for the champions (which Punk currently reigns supreme). The two wrestlers would continue the feud over the month of December at TLC in which Punk won a TLC match vs. Del Rio and The Miz. The feud came to a halt after Del Rio suffered a groin injury.
Kelly Kelly’s Maxim cover – Kelly now is rumored to be taking a break from the WWE. It is understandable, given the fact that she was on the road since the start of her career with the company.
Big Johnny signs Kevin Nash – Big Johnny now is the GM of both Raw and Smackdown and still messing up his lines in transition. Nash had a moderate feud with Triple H. HHH ended the feud at TLC 2011 and we never see Nash in the WWE again.
David Otunga asks when Brodus Clay will debut – Big Johnny said that Brodus “was too special to debut in Liverpool”. Clay eventually debuted a couple months after the vignette, as a dancing Funkasaurus.
Next Week: I will take a look into the November 9th edition of NXT and the November 10th edition of Superstars.
Detentions
All school year, I never gave out a detention. So, let me provide some detentions to wet your appetite.
Hulk Hogan – You retweeted some idiot from Twitter. Show some self-respect for you and your daughter.
Brooke Hogan – Ugh……TNA going one step back. Just stop.
TNA – For signing Brooke Hogan. It makes no sense whatsoever to make this hire.
Randy Orton – He earned one for being suspended for 60 days. Last year’s Golden Yardstick winner for Best Wrestler falls from grace.
Rey Mysterio – When you fail a wellness test, you earn a spot.
Kofi Kingston and R-Truth – They get destroyed by The Big Show, are taped up in bandages, and fly around the place? It makes no sense to me.
Ring of Honor – I hate to put them there and I don’t know what happened to the previous iPPV streams, but after investing some money into the iPPVs and not getting live streams it got frustrating.
Jinder Mahal – Welcome back to detention.
The early look at the WWE Championship Belt – I must issue a preliminary strike. I hope they had some color (emeralds, diamonds, rubies, rhinestones?).
Jerry Sandusky – Despicable acts. His prison sentence will occur very soon.
Shad Gaspard – The angry tweets regarding Darren Young and Titus O’Niel. They are not Cryme Tyme.
The Eternal Detention List
Nickelback
Praxis and the ETS Series
Michael Cole (he must be placed her until #200, students orders)
2010 French World Cup Soccer Team
Brian Hebner
“Undefined” Alicia Fox
Linda Hogan
The Epic Fail (Teacher’s Lounge Joke)

Special: A Mr. V “Coffee” Review
This summer I decided to try out some new flavors of coffee. In this special, I will just provide a couple sentences and tell you if they are recommended or not recommended. The past week I had three different coffee flavors so let me just take a brief moment and have some coffee talk with the readers.
Coffee Beanery Irish Cream – ($13.99 for 16oz.) The flavor was not bad, as it had a hint of that goodness that Mr. V does enjoy on a cool morning. However, if I had one problem with the coffee it was its lack of punch. It would not have as much flavor in it. It is best to drink this coffee in the morning with an English Muffin and a weekly newspaper. (3 out of 5 Gold Stars)
Coffee Beanery Jamaican Blue Mountain – ($59.99 for 16 oz.) The only thing that is not graded high is the price of this coffee. The only reason why I got this delicacy was for a Christmas gift. It was the first thing I opened out of the package. The flavor is very mellow and can be enjoyed any time of the day (especially after a day of employment). The coffee is in rare form, as it has a hint of sweetness that the pallet want to enjoy more and yells once your taste buds state that “it is over”. I highly recommend Jamaican Blue Mountain to anyone (on their website you can have a “try it” pack for $7.99), if one can afford it. (5 out of 5 Gold Stars)
Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Latte ($3.75 for a Grande, varies in location) – I was in a coffee rut near the end of the school year and actually tweeted David Otunga for a recommendation to honor my last day of school. Mr. Otunga tweeted back “Cinnamon Dolce. Delicious!” The next morning I ordered a grande cup of it and my coffee taste buds were kicked into overdrive! This is a very sweet, flavorful latte that will be perfect to end a perfect day. It is more affordable than Jamacian Blue Mountain, and highly recommended. (5 out of 5 Gold Stars).
The Mister V Gold Star Segment
Well, after placing Gold Star stickers on my students pencil cases, papers, and folders I think it is about time that I finally give a gold star to all things in pro wrestling and in life. So, let’s begin.
Bacon – The real “true” food that goes well with anything. If one does not like bacon, then they truly never entered food nirvana.
Antonio Cesaro – I am so happy that Claudio Castagnoli is now wrestling in the WWE as a member of the Smackdown brand. I am glad that he adds a “Very European” flavor to WWE.
Damien Sandow – I don’t think I need to explain, but the wrestler can cut a fantastic promo in a professional voice.
Dean Ambrose – I got to watch his match in Pittsburgh against Zack Ryder before the Superstars taping, and I don’t think anyone will be disappointed.
CZW and Chikara – They are two of the best independent promotions putting on some great Internet PPVs with CZW’s Best of the Best (featuring AR Fox and Sami Callihan) and Chikara’s “Chikarasaurus Rex: How to Hatch a Dinosaur (featuring Archibald Peck, Mr. Touchdown, Hallowicked, Tim Donst, and many more).
Archibald Peck – If you never YouTubed this gimmick, do so right after you read it. The guy’s gimmick is extremely original and truly makes professional wrestling fun. I may have to do a lecture on the Legend of Archibald Peck in the future.
Maryse – When she left the WWE Divas Division , apparently she took away the charisma in the division. We need her back.
The Big Bang Theory – Outside of all the wrestling programming and sporting events that I view on a daily basis, this is the only show that passes into my television scheduling.
International Wrestling Cartel – I look forward to watching Super Indy this year.
Logan Shulo – He is the IWC Champion and won it well before I typed this out. Congrats, my friend.
Rex Andrews – I wish you continued success in the independents.
Daniel Bryan – For Yesing his way to our hearts.
Jason Namako – He helped me a bit on a collaboration called “The Grade Book”, which was a nice way to get into depth about what we liked about a particular match. We hope to continue this soon. However, we are both busy individuals.
Dave Stephens – For allowing me to recap Raw and complete the cycle of Wrestleview Recaps (Raw, Smackdown, Impact, NXT, Superstars, and ROH).
To all World Champions since my last column – Congrats to CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, The Big Show, Bobby Roode (and I think he held it since my last column), and Kevin Steen.
Ted DiBiase, Jr. – For establishing his new charity. I never met DiBiase, but from the sounds of it he seems like a genuinely nice guy. We don’t have that many men in the world like that.
To the readers – Well, I finally got to do one of these columns and I want to thank you for all the support you provided during the months in which I had so much to do in life. I hope you enjoyed.
Chad Robbins – Especially this reader for being one of the best bowlers in his region. 300 games? He does it in his sleep!
Jose Marrero – He won last year’s “Wrestleview Staff” Predictions from the Faculty game! He edged out the competition to win his first Dean’s Chair. Congrats!
Jordan Benterman – He won last year’s “Wrestleview Students” Predictions game. He was terrific from start to finish and is among the leaders in this year’s predictions game. Congrats, Jordan!
