The office of the Governor of Pennsylvania has reached out to Fightful saying their comment regarding WrestleMania 2026 coming to Philadelphia was a mistake.
Manuel Bonder, Spokesman for Governor Shapiro issued the following statement to Fightful:
“This statement was mistaken, and we apologize for the confusion amid all the incredible events Pennsylvania is excited to host in 2026. While WrestleMania won’t be here in ‘26, we look forward to continuing to work with WWE and wrestling fans all across our Commonwealth to bring more great events to PA in the future.”
As previously indicated in our original story, the tweet regarding WrestleMania 2026 has since been deleted.
Fightful again reiterated that several WWE sources were shocked at the announcement and are always actively talking about where to bring major events. However, WWE further said they had nothing ready to announce.

“So get this, in Philly, we’ve got the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, we got the FIFA World Cup, we got WrestleMania, we got a little golf action, the PGA Championship and if you go over to Pittsburgh, we’ve got the NFL Draft and a lot more cool stuff happening all across Pennsylvania in the year 2026 for USA 250.”
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp said those he spoke with were surprised to hear the Governor put out a tweet regarding WrestleMania in Philadelphia in 2026. Sapp also said WWE has been nailing down some locations ahead of time, but Philadelphia isn’t quite confirmed.
“Regarding WrestleMania 2026 in Philly: People I spoke to were surprised to hear that put out there and people in WWE simply said they weren’t prepared to reveal a location. WWE has been nailing down some locations ahead of time, but this one isn’t quite confirmed. There are some locations and events set and others that the company is leveraging as we saw for next year’s WrestleMania. The post has since been deleted.“
WrestleMania 40 took place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia this past April.
