According to a new report from Wrestlenomics on Tuesday, Judge Jeffrey Meyer ruled on to deny Vince McMahon’s motion to enforce the federal court’s stay order against former WWE employee Janel Grant.
Last month, Grant had filed a petition in Connecticut state court to obtain medical records from Dr. Carlon Colker and his clinic, Peak Wellness.
The report also notes that neither Colker, nor his clinic are defendants in the sex trafficking lawsuit that Grant filed against McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis. Grant’s case against those parties was filed in federal court this past January.
Wrestlenonics further notes McMahon’s attorneys responded to Grant’s petition, arguing that her legal action in Connecticut state Superior Court was a violation of the six-month stay on the federal lawsuit, which had been put on hold in connection with the ongoing federal investigation involving U.S. Attorneys from New York’s Southern District court.
Grant alleges she was directed by Vince McMahon to get treatment at Peak Wellness, a clinic in Greenwich, Conn. She claimed in her state filing she had ben given pills and I.V. infusions and that Colker had refused to disclose the substance to her. She also said the medical records that have been provided thus far were not consistent and inaccurate.
Wrestlenomics adds that Vince McMahon asked the judge to prevent Grant from using any materials obtained as a result of the petition and that she be subject to contempt. Meyer ruled the stay in the federal case doe not apply to Grant’s proceedings in state court.
This past June, the federal lawsuit was put on hold by the judge, due to the federal investigation. The Southern District of New York is conducting the sex trafficking investigation against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis and WWE.
The report concludes by noting that on Monday, new sealed filings appeared on the docket from each of Grant and U.S. Attorney Sarah Mortazavi, which can not be publicly viewed.
Meyer approved the sealing of those filings on Tuesday.
Wrestlenomics reached out to Grant’s representatives and a representative for the Southern District of New York about those filings. At the time of this report, they have not have yet to receive a response.
