The appearance of Adam “Edge” Copeland during last night’s Raw was described as a “last minute idea” according to a report by PWInsider.com. WWE flew Edge in to the event in Detroit to negotiate a new contract as his current deal is set to expire on 4/30 (something he mentioned during his promo on Raw). This same report also states that when news became public about Edge’s deal expiring shortly, WWE immediately made the decision to bring him in to discuss working out a new deal. The initial offer to Edge (similar to other retired WWE talents like Shawn Michaels) was described as being lower than others with one source feeling the company was “underestimating that Edge would simply sign whatever he was offered.”
