As first reported by PWInsider and then F4WOnline, per the confirmation of several sources, Ricochet told WWE that he will leave the company when his contract expires. At the time of this writing, it is not known exactly when Ricochet’s WWE deal is up.
PWInsider notes they were told that Ricochet is expected to be written out of WWE storylines very soon in advance of his contract expiring.
One source PWInsider spoke with said they were giving Ricochet “all the credit in the world for betting on himself.”
Current AEW International Champion Will Ospreay said in a recent interview that WWE’s use of Ricochet is “appalling.” Both men had a rivalry in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Ricochet dropped the WWE Speed Championship to Andrade, in a match which was taped on Friday night after SmackDown. That match will air in the next few weeks on X. Ricochet first signed with WWE back in 2018. Prior to signing with WWE, Ricochet wrested in NJPW, EVOLVE, Dragon Gate and Lucha Underground. As the masked Prince Puma, is a two-time Lucha Underground Champion. He is also a former NXT North American Champion and the very first WWE Speed Champion. Ricochet also won the 2019 NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with Aleister Black (current AEW star Malakai Black).
Ricochet is engaged to WWE Raw ring announcer Samantha Irvin.
