Here are some of the highlights of the latest installment of “Noonan Speaks,” provided by The Mayhem’s official correspondent, Paterson From New Jersey:
The holidays are indeed upon us…and what other way to christen the yuletide season other than with the critically-acclaimed “Noonan Speaks.” Jimmy Noonan returned to The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network less than 48 hours after one of the biggest announcements in professional wrestling in the past decade was made. Things just got a little interesting after Hulk Hogan unveiled to the world that TNA iMPACT will be going head-to-head with the previously unopposed WWE Monday Night RAW on the night of January 4th. Jimmy wished to give his candid thoughts on the possibilities of Round II of “The Monday Night Wars” to The Big Mosh, Blade, & “The Chairman Of The Board” Todd Vincent, but that he too had a special announcement of his own…one that will give the wrestling industry a run for its money. “A big night & maybe ‘The Monday Night Wars’ once again, but I gotta tell you something before that’s gonna happen that is pretty big…and that happens next Monday night (December 14th). We all kid about the critically-acclaimed ‘Noonan Speaks’ & how Jimmy Noonan is going to turn the wrestling world upside down. But next Monday night, I gotta tell you, we got something special for you. It’s going to be the one of the biggest nights in Monday Night Mayhem…and history will take place next Monday night, and I guarantee that.”
With the head-to-head battle coming up within less than one month’s time, many people are looking forward to this night, but other critics & fans believe that TNA may be jumping the gun a bit. “As I’ve said before, (Eric) Bischoff is key, because Bischoff is the business man…and Dixie Carter is THE key. Dixie Carter in the last week or so is being what Dixie Carter needs to be: she is being aggressive. It’s never too early to be aggressive…and to say ‘WWE, I am going to stand up to you, and we are going to do something that hasn’t been done in years.’ It’s a very aggressive move, a bold mov e, and Dixie Carter is key.”
Many feel that World Wrestling Entertainment is to high above TNA to pay it any attention & that they do not see it as a threat and or competition. Jimmy, being in the inner circle of the WWE for close to a decade, feesl differently. “It’s not that they aren’t paying attention, Believe me they are attention to TNA. Anytime there are changes, the boys are talking about it, anybody new signs they are talking about it. The Creative Team is talking about so they are paying attention. They’re not giving it any credibility right now. What has happened with Dixie Carter being aggressive & Hulk Hogan signing with maybe Ric Flair, it has everyone’s antennas up.”
“The Nature Boy”, as mentioned earlier, is possibly being looked at for a spot in TNA when Hogan debuts in early January, and the question circling now is how much of a splash can he make in TNA Wrestling? Jimmy believes not much of an impact (no pun intended), but sees Flair as something else right now. “This whole Flair thing…It’s starting to get a little frustrating. Now I’m gonna be quoted in the ‘Dirt Sheets’ again, but what I said recently about Hulk Hogan being ‘the Anna Nicole Smith of professional wrestling’…Guess what, Ric Flair isn’t far behind. I love Ric Flair, but this is starting to get ridiculous. Supposedly he has his life together & is going back into the ring, but the WWE has nothing for him. Guess what Ric…You retired. Of course they have nothing for you! Go do something else.”
Now onto the big announcement that Jimmy Noonan spoke of earlier in the interview. “I’m excited because I finally get to live up to the bar that you guys set so high for me, and I feel like I’ve done nothing to warrant the acclaimed ‘Noonan Speaks.’ But next week…it happens. Next week something happens that hasn’t happened in a long time. I’m going to be doing ‘Noonan Speaks’ & interviewing a wrestler, and this wrestler is one of the greats. He will go down as one of the greats, and people still talk about him to this day. One of his first wrestling-related radio shows in over five years; Next Monday night, ‘Noonan Speaks’ with….Bill Goldberg!”
