WWE Hall of Famer reportedly no longer under active contract

PWInsider has reported that WWE quietly declined to renew the full-time broadcast contract of Jerry Lawler.

The WWE Hall of Famer, who recently gave a positive health update following a stroke in February 2023, was noted as still being under a Legends contract with the company.

The news comes in the midst of big changes behind the scenes, in keeping with the “new era” of WWE under Nick Khan and Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

Lawler last made an appearance in WWE in November 2023, with other appearances sporadically outside of wrestling such as a Memphis Grizzlies NBA game in March where the latest recipient of the Grind City Lifetime Achievement Championship was involved in a bit with Jeff Jarrett and Satnam Singh.

Lawler’s run in WWE began in December 1992 and saw him become one of the voices of a generation alongside Jim Ross, as the pair were a mainstay of commentary during the company’s “Attitude” era.
