WWE SmackDown kicks off with different clips of Cody Rhodes, AJ Styles, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens entering the arena.
Live in the arena, Bayley’s music hits and out comes the WWE Women’s Champion for the opening match.
Bayley, Naomi, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill vs. Tiffany Stratton and Damage CTRL
The bell rings and we are under way. Naomi and Kairi start the match. Naomi kicks Sane away and hits her with a drop kick. Bianca is tagged in and she lands a moon sault. She goes for the cover but Sane kicks out. Bianca with a vertical suplex and in comes Asuka but Bianca throws her to the outside. Sane with a back elbow and Bayley tags herself in. Bianca and Bayley argue and Asuka pulls Bianca to the outside. Stratton is tagged in and she hits Bayley with a spine buster. She goes for the cover but Bayley kicks out.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Sane and Asuka double team Bayley in the ring. Asuka goes for the cover but Bayley kicks out. Tiffany is tagged in and she stomps on Bayley. Dakota, Sane and Asuka exchange quick tags and all beat up on Bayley. Asuka goes for the cover but Bayley kicks out. Tiffany is tagged back in and she slams Bayley into the corner. Stratton with an acrobatic elbow to the face. She hits Bayley with an Alabama slam and goes for the cover but Naomi breaks it up. Stratton with a forearm onto Jade Cargill, knocking her off the ring apron. Tiffany also knocks Naomi off the ring apron but Bayley with a back drop on Tiffany. Bayley looks at Bianca to make the tag but tags Jade instead. Jade with a pump kick onto Sane, a choke slam onto Asuka and a back breaker onto Dakota. Bianca is tagged in and Jade hits Dakota with a power bomb. Jade lifts Bianca up and slams her onto Dakota. She goes for the cover but Sane breaks it up. All eight women get in the ring and begin fighting. Bianca hits Dakota with the KOD, goes for the cover and gets the pin.
Winners: Bayley, Naomi, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill
Austin Theory and Grayson Waller cut a promo backstage. They insult the audience and say it smells like smoke because that is what The Street Profits want but after tonight, they will show every one that they are the smoke.
-Commercial Break-
Kayla Braxton is backstage with Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. Jade tells Kayla they are always confident and Bianca says she is sick of talking about Damage CTRL and she is ready to be done with them. Bayley and Naomi are seen next to them and Bianca looks at Bayley and says she will hopefully be done with Damage CTRL.
Carmelo Hayes is backstage with Nick Aldis. Carmelo tells him that last week, he almost beat Cody Rhodes and he declares himself for the King of the Ring tournament. In comes Bobby Lashley and they shake hands. Bobby congratulates him on being drafted to SmackDown. He tells Carmelo that if he needs any advice to call him. Carmelo says he will be good, he was a first round draft pick last week, almost beat Cody and he has it figured out. Lashley tells him it’s not about the shots you take but how much you land. Hayes asks him when was the last time he shot his shot. Bobby stops him and tells him he has free advice for him and that is to watch out as to who he disrespects.
-Commercial Break-
New Catch Republic vs. AOP with Karrion Kross and Scarlett
Dunne and Akam start the match. Dunne with a kick and a dropkick. Dunne with several drop kicks. He goes for an arm bar but Akam catches him. Bate is tagged in and they double team Akam in the corner. Bate with a running European uppercut. He goes for another uppercut but Akam hits him with a clothesline. Rezar is tagged in and they double team Tyler. Rezar goes for a suplex but Bate with an elbow to the face. Bate goes for a suplex but Rezar lifts him up onto his shoulders. Dunne is tagged in and he hits him with a stomp off the second rope. Akam gets in the ring and they throw him to the outside. Bate with a cannonball onto AOP on the outside. Bate throws Akam back into the ring. He hits an elbow off the top rope. Tyler runs towards him but Akam throws him into the turnbuckle.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Akam has Bate in a bear hug in the middle of the ring. Bate squeezes out of it but Akam lifts him up and Bate hits him with a drop kick. Rezar is tagged in but Bate hits him with a clothesline. Dunne is tagged in and he hits Rezar with a kick to the side of the head. A drop kick by Dunne. Akam is knocked to the outside. Dunne goes for the cover on Rezar but Rezar kicks out. Dunne climbs the top rope, goes for a moon sault, Rezar moves, he lands on his feet, Bate is tagged in and they double team Rezar. Bate lifts Rezar onto his shoulders and does the airplane spin and he slams Rezar. Dunne is tagged back in. Bate with a shooting star, Dunne with a running knee. He goes for the cover but Akam breaks it up. Rezar grabs New Catch Republic but they snap his fingers and knock him to the outside. Dunne runs to the ropes but Scarlett gets on the ring apron and stops him. Bate onto the outside but Kross throws him on the outside. Dunne with a splash onto Kross. Dunne gets in the ring and AOP double team him, lifting him up and slamming him onto the mat. Rezar goes for the cover and gets the pin.
Winners: AOP
Nick Aldis is backstage and in comes Paul Heyman. He asks Aldis if he got his memo and Aldis says he did and request denied. He asks him why he would remove Kevin Owens and Randy Orton from their match tomorrow and Heyman says it is for their sake. Heyman says what happens to them is no longer on his conscience. What happens to Orton and Owens is on Nick’s conscience. Aldis asks him if that is by order of the Tribal Chief and Heyman says that is not funny.
Aldis asks him if he is in charge. Heyman says there is a difference between being in charge and in control but he has not spoken to Roman Reigns since WrestleMania. Aldis says when Roman pulled himself out of the WWE draft, how did he do that if he didn’t talk to him. Heyman says he pulled Roman Reigns out of the WWE draft. He tells Aldis he has to understand what is happening, he had no choice. He couldn’t subject Roman to the chaos of what is going on in the Bloodline and Aldis cannot subject Owens and Orton to the Bloodline tomorrow. Aldis says if Heyman can pull Roman out of the draft, he should try pulling Randy and Owens out of their match at Backlash and he can try that next on the RKO show.
-Commercial Break-
The RKO Show
Randy Orton’s music hits and out he comes for the RKO Show. The fans sing along to his entrance theme and out comes Kevin Owens. The fans cheer both of them in the ring. Owens speaks in French and says it is very appreciated and he welcomes every one to the first RKO Show.
Orton says normally you have to convince him to be on a show but he did not need any convincing because the fans are amazing. He says he did not need any convincing to team up with Owens for tomorrow at Backlash.
Owens says he knows Orton had some concerns about their guests but he started to get a lot of calls from a number he did not want to answer. He says Wednesday at 4:00 am, he answered and that was when Paul Heyman asked to be a guest on their show. He says Heyman had something very important to tell them. Orton says he would like to introduce Heyman to RKO and out comes Paul Heyman.
He introduces himself and says he is WWE’s undisputed wise man. Heyman says tonight, he comes out with respect, admiration and wisdom. Heyman gets in the ring and Owens tells Orton he can’t just RKO him right away. Orton says he’s more of an out of no where kind of guy and the fans chant “RKO”.
Heyman remains on the ring apron and he tells the fans there will be no RKO’s this evening. Orton says he begs to differ. The fans chant “yes”. Heyman says he understands why they would doubt him. The fans chant “We want Roman” and Heyman tells them he wants Roman too.
He tells them that he has great respect for both of them, when they stepped in the ring with Roman, it was competition, there was a title on the line. But the rules with Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga are different. He tells them to do a favor and back out of this match.
Orton calls Heyman the biggest piece of trash in the industry. Owens asys he can’t give them advice considering everything around him is falling apart. The fans chant “il a raison” which is “he is right”. Orton asks Heyman who is the true Tribal Chief and Heyman says he is put in a bad position.
Heyman says the whole world knows there is only one Tribal Chief. Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga attack Orton and Owens from behind. All four men fight to the outside and out come WWE officials who break it up.
Owens and Orton take out Solo, Tonga and the WWE officials. They stand in the ring and Orton’s music hits.
We cut to The Street Profits backstage. They talk about how they are going become new WWE Tag Team Champions.
LA Knight’s music hits and out he comes to the ring for his match.
-Commercial Break-
LA Knight vs. Angel with Legado Del Fantasma
The bell rings and we are under way. The fans chant “LA Knight” and LA Knight with a head lock. He runs to the ropes and he hits Angel with a shoulder tackle. LA Knight with a clothesline. He throws Angel to the ropes and hits him with a swinging neck breaker and Angel falls to the outside of the ring. LA Knight to the outside and he slams Angel head first onto the ring apron. LA Knight gets in the ring and he clotheslines Angel back to the outside. He throws Angel back into the ring and LA Knight with a suplex. He goes for the cover but Angel kicks out.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Humberto distracts LA Knight and Angel with a right hand. He throws LA Knight to the ropes but LA Knight with a flying clothesline. LA Knight with a power slam followed by a jumping elbow. He hits him with BFT, goes for the cover and gets the pin.
Winner: LA Knight
He grabs a microphone after the match and says all around the world, it’s the same song. Another SmackDown, another dummy dumped on his head. If he wanted to be cliche, he would say this is his ring but he won’t say it, he will make this his ring. He enters the King of the Ring.
Santos Escobar gets on the ring apron and says it is impressive. The fans chant “You suck”. LA Knight keeps talking and talking but at King of the Ring, while LA Knight will be busy running his mouth, Santos will be winning. LA Knight asks the fans if he should keep talking and the fans say “Yeah”.
LA Knight tells Santos Escobar he will hear everybody saying “LA Knight, Yeah” and he throws his microphone at Escobar.
Byron Saxton is backstage with Carlito. He tells Byron that Carlito has been away from WWE for many years and all he wanted was another WrestleMania moment with his family, the LWO. When Rey challenged Santos and Dominik at WrestleMania, he thought Rey would pick him but instead he picked Dragon Lee. And that was not cool. He says he took it into his own hands. In comes Dragon Lee who attacks Carlito but WWE officials break it up.
-Commercial Break-
WWE Tag Team Championship Match – Austin Theory and Grayson Waller (c’s) vs. The Street Profits
Waller with a right hand onto Ford before the bell rings. Theory with a right hand onto Dawkins, the bell rings and we are under way. Waller is tagged in, he throws Dawkins to the ropes but Dawkins with a spinning back elbow. Ford is tagged in and he hits him with a drop kick. Theory gets in the ring and they slam him onto the mat. Ford with a Rock Bottom onto Waller. Dawkins is tagged in. He climbs the top rope and hits a swanton onto Waller. Theory grabs Waller to the outside and Ford is tagged in. Ford with a flying senton over the top rope onto Theory and Waller. Ford throws Waller back into the ring and Dawkins is tagged in. They double team Waller in the ring. Dawkins with a spinning back elbow. He goes for the cover but Waller kicks out.
-Commercial Break-
Back from commercial, Ford with a springboard back elbow off the top rope onto Theory. Ford goes for the cover but Theory kicks out. Dawkins is tagged in and they try to double team Theory but Theory lands on his feet and Waller is tagged in. Waller on the top rope but Ford turns around. Waller walks the ropes, goes for a drop kick, Ford moves and Waller lands a dropkick onto Dawkins who is down on the mat. Theory is tagged in and he rolls into the ring but Dawkins pushes him down in mid air. He slams Waller and Ford is tagged in. Ford climbs the top rope and they hit Theory with the blockbuster. Ford goes for the cover but Theory kicks out. Dawkins is tagged in and he lifts Theory onto his shoulders. Ford climbs the top rope, Theory rakes Dawkins in the eyes and he trips Ford off the top rope. The referee checks up on Ford and Waller hits Dawkins with the flatliner. Theory goes for the cover and gets the pin.
Winners: Still WWE Tag Team Champions, Austin Theory and Grayson Waller
They run down the Backlash card.
Back in the arena, out comes AJ Styles to the ring.
-Commercial Break-
Cody’s music hits and out comes the Undisputed WWE Champion to the ring. He gets in the ring and the fans chant “Cody”. Cody asks the fans in French what they want to talk about. AJ says it’s as if Cody is not focused on him, he is focused on the fans. Cody says he grew up watching him and AJ cuts him off. He says he doesn’t need that, he maybe older than Cody but he is still in his prime.
AJ says Cody had the path laid out for him because everyone wanted the son of the American Dream Dusty Rhodes, including WWE. He says they welcomed him with open fans. He tells Cody that Cody loved it here until things got rough and he couldn’t handle it and he left. His decision, one that AJ never got to make because he was kept out of WWE for years and when he got here, he was not welcomed with open arms like Cody. He had to prove himself all by himself.
He tells Cody that Cody had legends watching his back at WrestleMania for him to finish his story. A bunch of guys he has beaten before, he beat them all the same way he is going to beat him at Backlash. He says he will find his way to the top again and remind everyone that he is phenomenal.
Cody says AJ’s reputation is unmatched. Cody says he endured a lot of mistakes to stand there as WWE Champion and his first title match is against AJ. He says AJ is and forever will be phenomenal but tomorrow, he won’t look at him as phenomenal, he is looking at him as his first. And that’s two sweet.
AJ raises his fingers for the two sweet and as does Cody but AJ slaps him in the face and leaves the ring.
We cut backstage and we see Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga all fighting backstage with WWE officials breaking it up and SmackDown goes off the air.
