Fightful Select has reported that the 2024 WWE Draft will have have a “renewed focus” given NXT’s inclusion in the event.
Conversations regarding the draft on-air and backstage have indicated the company’s intention on drafting talents to the NXT brand, with a heavy focus on the draft being brought into the television program ahead of the NXT Spring Breakin’ themed events on 4/23 and 4/30.
Several talents were told by Shawn Michaels this week that he “isn’t sure” who will be brought up from NXT to the main roster, with Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov looking to be a lock while Roxanne Perez’s status remains up in the air.
The report goes on to note that CW and Netflix, who have upcoming deals for NXT and RAW respectively, are expected to have some say in draft-related decisions, though one source did point out that “the Netflix deal is closer to next year’s draft than this year’s.”
The 2024 WWE Draft starts on the 4/26 edition of WWE SmackDown and concludes on the 4/29 edition of RAW, with RAW, SmackDown, and NXT eligible to make draft picks.
