During the main event of AEW Revolution, Darby Allin jumped from a tall ladder in the ring to the outside, sending himself through a pane of glass that shattered on impact and led to a sizeable amount of blood on his back throughout the rest of the match.
On the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez provided an update on Darby’s condition, with a surprisingly positive outlook:
I looked at this guy’s back last night and it was like he was wearing a red cape. I thought, ‘Oh my god, they’re not going to let him back in the match.’ They did. He’s still streaming blood everywhere out of his back.
He needed (pause) twelve stitches. I heard that and I was like, ‘Okay, hold a second, you mean 1200 right? 12,000?’ Twelve stitches. I don’t know how but thank god, and that’s the story. So, he’s on his way to Everest.
Darby is expected to make a well enough recovery to compete in one more match for the company, taking on Jay White at the Big Business edition of Dynamite before taking time off to tackle his grandest challenge yet, climbing Mount Everest.
