KOIN-6 in Portland, Oregon is reporting that Former pro wrestler William Albert “Billy Jack” Haynes, Jr. was released from a hospital on Wednesday afternoon and then was taken to jail on murder charges, per an announcement by the Portland Police Bureau.
According to officials, Haynes was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center for charges of murder in the second degree and unlawful use of a weapon. He had previously been hospitalized while in police custody for a medical issue not connected to the alleged crime.
Back on Thursday, February 8, local police were called to a home in the Lents neighborhood in Portland for reports of a possible shooting. Officers spent several hours trying to contact a man inside the home. Because there was a belief the man was armed, those in the nearby area were asked to shelter in place.
After what was an almost two-hour standoff, the man later identified as Haynes came out of the home and was then detained by police.
When officers were finally able to get into the home, they had found a woman, who was pronounced dead. The woman was later identified as Hayne’s wife – 85-year old Janette Becraft. Her death was a homicide by single gunshot wound.
