Gable Steveson moving on from University of Minnesota to focus on WWE career

University of Minnesota’s head wrestling coach shared an update on social media regarding Gable Steveson, as part of “Coach’s Corner.”

In the post, Brandon Eggum states that Steveson, who signed with WWE as part of a Next In Line deal in September 2021, will not be competing for the school in the upcoming season as he focuses on his professional career.

“He is a great competitor. He’s always wanted to compete for the University of Minnesota, but ultimately the WWE would prefer that he’s solely focused on his professional wrestling career at this time. So whenever he’s not at the WWE Performance Center down in Florida, he’s up here in our realm working with our heavyweights, which is awesome.”

As of time of writing, Steveson has primarily wrestled at NXT house shows aside from his bout against Baron Corbin at NXT Great American Bash 2023 and a dark match against Cedric Alexander last Friday before that night’s edition of SmackDown.
