WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels announced that Carmelo Hayes will be representing NXT in the United States Championship No. 1 Contenders Tournament.
Hayes will be square off against Grayson Waller in the tournament on this Friday night’s episode of WWE SmackDown live on FOX, which will take place from the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Hayes and Waller have history together in NXT. They both wrestled for the NXT North American Championship. Hayes is undefeated against Waller in singles competition.
Hayes defeated Lexis King (former AEW star Brian Pillman, Jr.) in singles action at Saturday night’s NXT Deadline premium live event.
Also, previously announced for this Friday night’s show is the return of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens and Austin Theory will face off in a quarterfinals US Title Tournament Match.
