CMLL Issues Press Release
This week CMLL issued a Press Release to talk about some things that have come out recently. First, the new El Consejo group in AAA which is portratying itself as an “invading” group from CMLL. We all know that they are guys that LEFT CMLL and this is just an angle but CMLL went out of it’s way to say that they have no affiliation with CMLL right now and that CMLL actually owns the name of “Consejo” (CMLL stands for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre) so AAA is breaking the law by using the name (I guess CMLL doesn’t care that Psicosis and Histeria still use those names in CMLL despite AAA owns the names). 2nd, CMLL made sure to refute the rumor that they were selling Arena Coliseo which has popped up alot recently.

TNA Stars Impress in AAA
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AAA was said to have been impressed with the TNA stars that came in for the “Guerra de Titanes” PPV. They were particularly impressed with Brutus Magnus and felt that all the TNA stars had great attitudes backstage. AJ Styles, Rob Terry, D’Angelo Dinero, and Magnus all worked that card.
AAA Done for the Year
AAA is done for the year and won’t be back until mid-January for TV Tapings.
Dia de la Inocenetes
December 28th was obviously “Dia de la Inocenetes” (Day of the Innocents, which is the Mexican equivalent of April Fools Day) and like every year is a frustrating day for Lucha news as many people and websites decide to post fake news stories as a joke. Some of the more crazy/funny ones were La Sombra signing with WWE, Atlantis vs. Ultimo Guerrero in a Mask Match being signed for March, Los Traumas signing with WWE, Shawn Michaels going to TNA, Dr. Wagner Jr. returning to CMLL, and Wrestlemania 29 coming to Mexico. Obviously none are true.
Old School Luchador Passes Away
This month Cesar Curiel, who was a mainstay in Lucha Libre throughout the 70’s and 80’s (and most known for an incident in a match where an opponent died in the ring due to an accident), passed away at the age of 62.
