Video: Edge tells Toronto fans WWE SmackDown match was his last in the city

Following his victory over Sheamus on Friday night’s WWE SmackDown at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada, Edge gave an off-air promo. The 49-year-old Hall of Famer told the fans Friday night, that the match he had against Sheamus was his last in the city. 

The promo, which was captured by a fan who was in attendance at the show is currently up on YouTube.

Edge did not officially announce his retirement. He did say, however that he was going to take time recover this next week and discuss his future with his family. He also thanked his trainer Ron Hutchison. He revealed that Hutchison had trained him for free because he was aware of Edge’s financial situation at the time, as Edge was from a single-parent household. 

He also said it is because of WWE, he met his wife, WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, who is also the mother of his children.  

Edge revealed in an interview with ET Canada this past week, that his the match with Sheamus was the last on his current WWE contract. 

After not being medically cleared by WWE doctors in 2011 following surgery due to cervical spinal stenosis, Edge made his return to the company at the 2020 Royal Rumble. In August of 2019, speculation had begun that WWE doctors cleared Edge to make his return to in-ring competition.
