Backstage update on Vince McMahon making changes to Monday’s WWE Raw

We had previously reported, per Fightful Select that Vince McMahon has made some “drastic” changes to this past Monday’s WWE Raw.

According to an update from Fightful Select, the original plans for Tommaso Ciampa’s return to WWE and Raw this past Monday, was to be Ciampa challenging Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship in the Open Challenge.

The report also notes that it was actually Vince McMahon who made the call to make the change from Ciampa vs. Rollins and go with The Miz vs. Ciampa instead. It was also said that there was no reason given as to why the change was made. However, it was further noted the Ciampa and Rollins match was initially booked to end in a non-finish.

The opening segment had Seth Rollins soaking in the fans singing to his ring entrance and then being attacked from behind by Finn Balor, which continued after a commercial break.

Fightful Select also added in their report that Ciampa and Rollins would have had a fairly large amount of television of time given to them for the match.
