AEW Rampage SPOILERS for 6/23: Former WWE Superstar returns

AEW taped this Friday’s episode of Rampage at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago after Dynamite went off the air.

Below is some notable news coming out of the tapings, followed by the full spoilers, courtesy of Fightful.

The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn ended up in a confrontation with QT Marshall and his QTV crew. It was then that former WWE Superstar John Morrison, also previously known as Johnny Elite in AEW, made his return and appeared to align with Marshall.

Morrison was released from WWE back in November 2021. In addition to making a previous appearance in AEW back on the May 27, 2022 episode of Dynamite, in a loss to Samoa Joe, he also wrestled for MLW and GCW. He is married to AEW star Taya Valkyrie.

A new match is set for for this Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II pay-per-view.

During a segment Adam Cole came to the ring to cut a promo after it was revealed on Dynamite that he is MJF’s partner for the Blind Eliminator Tag Tournament, Tom Lawlor attacked Cole, setting up a match between the two men for this Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. This is Lawlor’s first-ever appearance in AEW.

-United Empire (Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher & Jeff Cobb) & Swerve Strickland defeated CHAOS (Trent Beretta, Chuck Taylor, Rocky Romero & YOH)

-Adam Cole came out for a promo. AEW World Champion MJF interrupted and said he told Tony Khan to book Cole against Tom Lawlor. Lawlor attacked Cole.

-The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) & Billy Gunn defeated unnamed opponents.

-Johnny Elite (John Hennigan) returned to AEW and joined the QTV crew to attack The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn

Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament Quarterfinal Match: Skye Blue defeated Anna Jay A.S.

-“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry defeated DOUKI

Rampage will air Friday night on TNT, beginning at 10:00 pm ET.
