During the 6/13 edition of NXT, Shawn Michaels announced via social media that a two week NXT TV Special called NXT Gold Rush would take place the following two weeks.
The main event for the first show will see Seth Rollins defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker, after the former NXT Champion called Rollins out the week before and Rollins arrived to NXT in response.
The second show will be headlined by Carmelo Hayes defending the NXT Championship against Baron Corbin, who defeated Ilja Dragunov on the 6/13 edition of NXT for the opportunity to challenge for the title.
This comes off the heels of WWE filing a new trademark for ‘NXT Gold Rush’ on June 9, intended to cover the categories of a show about professional wrestling. The name was used previously for a tournament announced by Dusty Rhodes in 2012 to determine the first-ever NXT Champion.
