Women’s Tag Team Title Unification Match set for 6/23 WWE SmackDown

Not that the June 16 and June 30 episodes of Friday Night SmackDown are already set to be hot…WWE has now announced a match to unify the WWE and NXT Women’s Tag Team titles which will take place on the June 23 episode.

This match was made following a confrontation that took place on Friday’s night’s episode with WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre. Dawn and Fyre were drafted to SmackDown and brought the titles with them.

During the confrontation, Baszler told the Dawn and Fyre there is not room in WWE for both sets of champions, and then challenged them to a title unification match. The confrontation would then turn physical.

Fyre and Dawn won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles back on April 1 at NXT Stand and Deliver, when they defeated Fallon Henley and Kiana James.

The June 23 episode of SmackDown will air live on FOX from the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA.
