WWE has touted positive TV ratings trends and strong ticket sales for live events, and a statistic from the SSRS/Luker on Trends Sports Poll has given the company something new to hype ahead of its negotiations in new media rights deals.
According to the poll, the number of fans aged 8 and older who identify as WWE fans has reached 89.9 million, a new record for the company and an increase of 4.8 million over the previous high point of 85.1 million from the 2021 poll.
This is good news for WWE as it looks to reach new deals for television and other media rights. CEO Nick Khan spoke at an investor conference on May 23, touting WWE’s success in streaming on Peacock after the WWE Network made its move to the platform:
“If you look at WWE Network in the United States, which was our own [direct-to-consumer service], which we shuttered to go into the Peacock deal about two years or so ago, [there are] all of the subscribers we had migrated to Peacock, plus millions more who NBCU would tell you are directly attributable to WWE in terms of paid subscribers.”
