Before the start of the IMPACT World Title at Sunday night’s Rebellion PPV, ring announcer David Penzer announced Nick Aldis as the guest commentator for the match.
Aldis announced while he was on commentary that the deal has been done and he is back in IMPACT Wrestling. He then said that he has his sights set on the World Title.
Steve Maclin defeated Kushida to become the new IMPACT World Champion. After the match, Maclin demanded that Scott D’Amore come to the ring and place the title around his waste. However, D’Amore only handed Maclin the belt and as he was about to leave the ring, Maclin nailed him from behind with the belt. Aldis left the commentary table to confront Maclin who left the ring jawing at Aldis.
Aldis is a two-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. He left the NWA after his contract expired this past January. Aldis left the company due to he and NWA owner Billy Corgan reportedly having disagreements on the creative direction Corgan had for the company. After Aldis made public comments in November of 2022 about his issues with Corgan, he then was suspended by Corgan. Following the announcement of the suspension, Aldis said on social media he would be moving on from the NWA.
Aldis previously worked for TNA between 2008 and 2015, with a brief return in 2017. He is a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion and a two-time TNA World Tag Champion.
