Shigeru “Tokyo” Akabane, 71, St. Joseph, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Heartland Hospital, St. Joseph. He was born July 5, 1940 in Tokyo, Japan. Tokyo was a professional wrestler, “Little Tokyo,” for 38 years, and held the Midget World Championship for 28 years. He will be missed but never forgotten. As a wrestling fan I ask for prayers for his family in this tough time.
