According to PWInsider Elite, The Great Muta will soon be announced as an inductee for the 2023 Hall of Fame class. It is not known as of this writing, if WWE plans to feature Muta on their programming prior to the announcement of his official induction.
Even though Muta never wrestled for WWE/F, he did participate in the 1985 NJPW IWGP and WWF Champion Series. Muta ended up becoming a household name with North American pro wrestling fans after success in the NWA and WCW. Muta is best known for his feud with Sting in the NWA, with their feud for the World Television Championship.
One of Great Muta’s most memorable matches was in the electrified ThunderDome at the very first WCW Halloween Havoc PPV in 1989, where he teamed up with Terry Funk against Ric Flair and Sting.
This past January, Keiji Muto wrestled his final match under The Great Muta persona. He teamed up with AEW stars Darby Allin and Sting, defeating AKIRA, Hakushi, and Naomichi Marufuji in the main event of The Great Muta Final Bye-Bye event.
The 2023 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, March 31, immediately following the WrestleMania 39 go-home show of WWE Friday Night SmackDown. WWE SmackDown will air live from the same venue.
The 2023 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony will air live on Peacock in the United States and WWE Network everywhere else.
Rey Mysterio was announced during Friday night’s WWE SmackDown as the first inductee for the 2023 WWE Hall of Fame Class.
