According to a PWInsider, concern about the MLW Underground series’ status on REELZ has arose after Variety reported earlier this week the series would “wrap up” in ten weeks, due to Peacock now having a linear live stream of REELZ streaming, minus MLW Underground on Tuesday’s at the 10:00 pm ET due to WWE’s exclusivity on Peacock.
PWInsider notes that they spoke with sources regarding the report from Variety and it was said that the deal made between REELZ and MLW is not a ten week deal nor was the deal designed to end next month. It was further said the deal that was signed between the two sides as more of an open-ended agreement that would see MLW episodes delivered weekly and not something that had a finite ending date. This doesn’t mean however, that REELZ could not opt out of the deal or decide to move MLW to another day and time. The report concluded by noting that the series being planned for a limited run is 100 percent incorrect.
This past Tuesday’s MLW Underground episode drew an average of 68,000 viewers, which did not make the top 150 on the cable charts.
REELZ had issued the following statement on Thursday to PWInsider pertaining to Variety’s report:
“No decisions have been made by MLW or REELZ and we are both committed to a good outcome for MLW, its fans and REELZ.”
