Wrestleview was saddened to hear of the passing of former TNA announcer Don West on Friday. He was 59 years old.
West announced back in June 2021 that he had been diagnosed with brain lymphoma. After he underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatment, West went into remission. However, the cancer would return and West would then began a second battle with the disease.
West was part of the TNA Wrestling commentary team from 2002 to 2012. He also worked in the company’s merchandise department as well. In 2017, at IMPACT’s Slammiversary West returned to the commentary booth to help call the pay-per-view.
Outside of professional wrestling, West is best known from his time on the Shop at Home Network as a sports collectibles pitchman. Saturday Night Live did a parody skit of West and the Shop at Home Network on an episode that aired in the 1990’s.
Most recently, West a radio host for NewsRadio 560 KPQ in Wenatchee, Washington. Prior to his radio gig, he took a position as the General Manager of the Wenatchee Wild hockey team in Wenatchee, Washington. The radio station issued a statement on Friday on Don’s passing.
