Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce that Black Adam, will not be featured going forward in “the first chapter” of the new direction for DC’s cinematic storytelling under new DC Co-Studio Heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
The film grossed $391,130,002 worldwide at the box office, against a $195 million budget. Black Adam is now streaming on HBO Max. According to PWInsider, there was a feeling in some circles (while never explicitly stated) that Johnson was trying to get control of the DC Studios.
DC Studios has also canceled Wonder Woman 3 and the next Superman movie after Henry Cavill told the Gunn and Safran he would not be returning in the role.
